  1. Some of us girls have spoken bout pitching in and cooking together so we didn't see that as a problem, eating out is nice but good food costs so we were banking on all mucking in. I know the non-tidal areas are beautiful but not without restriction. I think it wod deserve time but not as a hurried venture causing difficulties elsewhere, maybe that is a trip of it's own worth? Overnight fees will be cheaper in a residential area-but does that mean we have to be quiet? I feel if it's been discounted on more than a couple of occasions, there must have been reasons for it? As a stopgap I agree, if we all have enough of St kats then it's a possibility, but it was coming across as a detour for u guys to play on ribs, if that's wot u want to do that's your call, but rightly or wrongly I would have thought that would have been brought into the equation long ago.
  2. Forgive me being scratchy but we don't all have ribs! We have children who need to travel by train depending on the awkwardness of 3rd parties. Has anyone considered the added cost of travelling to places from limehouse by rail? Us girls aren't spectators either. Sorry I'm getting fed up
  3. Hi all!! We are all still standing, despite the best efforts of the wind yesterday!!! Its quite something to see with all the pink regalia, wigs, tutus, leg warmers, make up, t-shirts......the list goes on!! It was on the cooler side which was fine until the wind kicked in-made it a little on the chilly side......but we had our real life action man to get us all warmed up!! Needless to say, some went one way, others another, arms up, down, this way and that, knee up (trying not to engage the bottom in front!!) knee down, ooops, this way .....er no that way again!! The end result was we warmed up an smiled n laughed in the process!! The hardest thing was seeing what was written on the pink squares we all wore on our backs, the why's?, tributes, hope and wishes......a huge heartfelt mass of positivity that really did bring a tear to the eye if you allowed yourself to read too many at once!! And off we set, Tracy, Kristie and Myself.......and we did, if i say so myself, make a decent time. We have said we would like to do it again, so if theres anyone who would like to join us, fund raise, come up with ideas then the more the merrier, and all to such a good cause. A huge thank-you to all our sponsors, every penny is very much appreciated, particularly so with the difficult times we are all experiencing at this time. Web donations are direct, and cheques will now be sent in with the official paperwork. Thank-you once again, it was a really worthwhile experience on top of the reason for the event.
  4. Good luck, hope you do get your licence, and enjoy!! Im rather partial to a crayfish salad myself!!
  5. Hi guys!! Wayne they may well run when they see what im wearing!! However much we run, walk, skip, cartwheel.......we will get round!! Yes Neil, im ready..........well as ready as i'll ever be!! Sunday is the day!! Won't be at the meet this weekend.......Keeping a watch over a bunch of 16yr olds here for Ellen's 16th Birthday is as much as I can handle this weekend!! Thanks to all for the sponsorship and good wishes!! Annie

    Boat market

I dont say Im a good swimmer-others told you!! But if you insist-you tell me how far it is and make it worth my while and i will swim that distance-in a pool tho-dont fancy dodging floaty bits in the sea, its too flippin cold and i'd probably end up fighting the tidal stream and going backwards!! Much to your amusement!! LeCruiset????

    Boat market

.......Thats why ive taken the engines out and the legs off while you've been away-Got some nice tight fitting rubber seals for your legs to fit through-couple of energy drinks and off we go!! Much more cost effective!!
  8. .......Beware of flip-flop sucking, rather odorus, black sticky mud that waits for you to miss your footing as you disembark your tender-much to the amusement of some folk!!
  9. Sounds like a really interesting series to look forward to. Im guessing the ideal is locations for treasures before they reach the architectural salvage/reclamation yards? We have what is (apparently) a World War One slegde on our bedroom wall!! Its fairly flat with wooden runners, bound with twine and leather and with a pulling rope. It is now adorned with lights, a trilby, scarves, pashminas, a black feather boa............and Gav's prized Lancia steering wheel! There's a place in Ipswich called Orwells (formerly Orwell Pine), they make bespoke pine furniture, kitchens etc, restore old pieces, dip doors etc, sell reclaimed items. They have been in Ipswich for years and owned a large stretch of the waterfront. Some of what they owned i believe they have now sold, but in clearing out old buildings the owners son found about 5 or 6 of these sledges, well and truly forgotten about-he'd sold a couple to someone he knew and their find came up in general chit chat with Mary the owner when id gone in one day.............one of those totally random purchases, slightly off track from the tin of paint id popped in for!! They may have some interesting things lurking about still, or may be a good source of information. (is Suffolk ok as you had said you were looking in Norfolk?)
  10. No, it's just the way I stand!! I guess i asked for that!! ............Im saying nothing more!!
  11. Hi all, There are two seperate places in Brundall-previously we have used Brundall marine services, as we are this time, and always had good service. The other place that will remain nameless we have not heard good reports about. Mark-have you got Aluminium legs? If so, any problems with also having Aluminium anodes? Hi Barry-I was advised magnesium for mainly river use, fresh water, zinc for a combination of sea and brackish water, aluminium for about half and half sea and brackish...........but as with all things boat..........
  12. Hi all, Hope all is now well and working Barry. I know one of the experienced chaps there has left Brundall recently. Ive just arranged for our boat to come out and have the anodes replaced.......ive told them we want aluminium...and was told that was fine but they didn't know if that was available for the trim tabs so on there they would put zinc.......this didn't sit comfortably with me remembering back from school physics/chemistry... so i called our surveyor for advice......use of different materials would not protect the boat from electrolysis, so i called to insist they also use aluminium there too. Surely they should know this?? What other places can people recommend?
  13. Many thanks Merlin, much appreciated!!
  14. Couldn't agree more Brian!! Looks like there may be new research into a vaccine that allows our immune system to identify cancer cells, and give us all a fighting chance at least. Presently our body cannot distinguish cancer cells from normal cells, so that would be a huge leap forward if it was successful.
  15. Hi Ian, Not going too bad thanks. Keep pushing myself and making progress-just wish i could wave a wand as you can bet i still bump into people i know..........and you can bet they all check behind me to see if im being chased !!

    I Know how you feel

Thanks for posting that guys, a point well made.........just goes to show how it may look like less of a wash at speed until you take the force into account. Reminded me somewhat of a buttock clenching journey out of Gt Yarmouth on the way to Southwold!! If only I'd had a pound for every time some strange word popped out of my mouth!!
  17. Well i guess with eating all those nuts, wind may not be a stranger to u!! And im not afraid to admit, running certainly shakes your innards about!!
  18. Hi, Training not going too bad, the wind was something to contend with! Im aiming to raise £500, and am up to £190 (not including any gift aid), tho cheques are not yet cashed as im awaiting my pack so they are traceable, and can benefit as much as possible from the gift aid. I havent heard from Gav for a few days so keep waiting til as late as poss to go out-if he used his minutes to call my mobile they go far quicker than the 30 on the land line! (but yes i do run with a bum bag containing my mobile just in case!) More running in the coming days and next week stepping up the distance to the local reservoir which is an 8 mile route. I actually saw the TV campaign for it for the first time tonight (maybe not the first time its been aired but the first time ive seen it)
  19. ...........there were certain words uttered whilst training today!! If the wind wasn't trying to knock me off my feet, it was forcing me backwards! .........so i walked!!
  20. Hi Mark-great job, looking really good!! In a house i renovated i used Karndean to cover a hand build unit for the bathroom basin-clearly a wet area, it did the trick with no problems. Theres a huge range they offer, as do Amtico and a few other companies. For those who like a funky touch, Dalsouple rubber might be an interesting option. (did i really say that?) Good thinking Batman!!
  21. My thoughts are with them Brian!! Good luck to them both, i hope they have fun too. I tried the same route today as yesterday, and although a little stiff, managed about the same.......im on a mission to make sure i run up the nastiest hill, and so far have somehow managed to reach the top both times!! ..........hey next friday and the weekend looking bright-may just have to head for the reservoir!! If only the dogs would run in the same direction id take them with me........however they seem to be determined to tie me in knots.........good job they can't hold a camera!!
  22. Hi, Just a thought or two. With the economic climate, any misappropriation of funds is even more distasteful than ever, and so would it not afford a national response of disgust? Can we bring some clout on board in the way of adverse publicity and so any registered dissatisfaction cannot go unnoticed? There is already support of our plight with regards the obstruction of navigation due to bridge problems.........if it was spotlighted widely, then maybe something would be done. Its highly unfair to be constructively criminalised for 1. witholding payment for goods unfit,( albeit partially and intermitantly but unfit nevertheless as we have to pay in advance ) for purpose according to the Sale of Goods Act and 2.witholding payment due to misappropriation of funds by BA. PJCJ..........party fruit, woop woop!! Wot no dried peas!! You guys will be sorely missed but luckily will be in our neck of the woods for the odd evening of drinkies!!
  23. Just recovering from my latest training mission..........headed off in my usual direction with my daughter Ellen ( She has thoughts of becoming an RAF PTI or personal trainer so she can run!!) and we decided to take the long route, and i was dreading it!! I can't run the whole of the short route so twice the distance was looking like a potential moral crusher...........but, I have been quite pleased with how much I managed to run. Rather than picking a point in the distance and aiming to run that far, Im just heading off (still forgot my i-pod!) and plodding on.........and managing to run much further than I anticipated! I even ran up a hill......and had started a way back, not just at the bottom of it, and really surprised myself! Im wondering if it was starting off thinking i didnt have a hope........couldnt run for laughing!! Ellen had her i-pod and i tried to get her attention, to no avail.......so I found a use for the water I was carrying!! It worked!! she didnt appreciate it greatly and I got the giggles!
  24. I guessed it might be sensible to take a minute to consider what im eating-oats are apparently good for you, though porridge feels a bit wintery.........so I made them into flapjack!! Wondering if thats why my legs were a little reluctant to move at much more than a brisk walk today!! Any runners out there?.........Why is it my legs feel like lead weights even after a very short run? (and I mean short, as in as soon as i set off!!) Its been a nice sunny day, put my running gear on......did my legs want to cooperate? No! I sincerely believe they have a mind of their own. Any advice on taming them would be gratefully received!! Annie
  25. Im with you on that Wayne!! Lets face it, if we want waves we can make our own!! Besides, they do make a job of trying to keep the ice in your glass when sunbathing, and there's nothing worse than a salty Pimms!!
