Just had a lovely meal in the Maltsters not surprised they are not continuing with the granary as they not directly compete against each other.

Mine is a Broom designed and built but I wasn’t able to enter as I was too late. I did chuckle as we passed the convoy and they were all taking pictures of us.

No, unfortunately no woodies present today
No, they were all more recent, and mainly the larger type boats
There were 2 Broom 29 Soft Tops in the lead squadron, and I had a good chat with them both afterwards, over dinner.
Unfortunately that pretty much sums up the BOC.

I wish him luck but he has given very little information. Where can you realistically build something that size on the broads.

We had a trip to Oulton Broad on Saturday and I would say we passed no more the half a dozen boats mostly private. Coming back yesterday there was a few more including about 4 hire boats but it’s still incredibly quiet on the southern side.

River trials have shown up a couple of issues. The batteries are causing ballasting problems, ideally they need to be in the rear cabin but there is not room under the floor. The motor runs fine in forward but lacks power in reverse I’m not sure if this is a motor issue or a prop issue. So I guess more head scratching needed.

First river trial went well but need to sort out how to stop water coming up the stern tube.

We think the upgrade to the Voyager is worthwhile too. The Flavel was alright and still worked, but getting the oven to a temperature to be able to cook anything required time and patience.
The oven on the Flavel and the Voyager are far better than the Smev It nearly became a mud weight when we first got the boat, we have sort of got use to it as the hob and grill are great just not that impressed with the oven.

Try SMEV.
They are about the same size and very efficient, except they run better on propane than butane.
If it were me, I would hang on to the Flavel Vanessa. Hard to beat!
We have a Smev on our boat and I’m not that impressed with the oven, you must remove the solid tray otherwise is takes for ever to cook.
we replaced the Flaval with a Voyager 4500 with battery ignition and thought it was a great oven The gas inlet is on the opposite side but the size is pretty much the same.

That’s not the only one sporting pink antifoul this year

Most of the broad is a good depth and you can mud weight almost anywhere except the point that leads to Gays Staithe the area around the island and the area at the top near the Barton boardwalk.

Having just watched it a lot is staged for the tv but it still makes great telly. Bring on season 4.

We went to Didley Squat farm a couple of weeks ago. I was very disappointed hardly anything in the shop and long waits for the bar and food truck. The car park is also a mess with massive potholes causing cars to bottom out.

We had a pump out at Norwich Yacht station a few weeks ago. Advertised price £15. He had trouble pumping the tank having to close off the valve many times to maintain pressure. Asked if I had a gauge and if I did was it showing empty. No it was not it still showed quarter full. Would you like a rinse, yes please that will be £3 extra. But it did empty the tank second time around.
How can you do a pump out without rinsing it why not just say a pump out is £18. Not much blue and very watery.
Best pump out I’ve have ever had was Maycraft £10 3 buckets to rinse and nearly a litre of proper blue.

I’m all for speed cameras where they reduce the risk of accidents. But this morning on the A14 roadworks section there were 3 safety camera vans one at the beginning one in the middle and another one just before the end. Their only purpose for having 3 is a money making exercise and nothing to do with road safety.

Being a nice sunny and warm day we decided to head out in the Z4 roof down but were to go. We (I) decided on Diddly Squat Farm. As it’s about 40 mins away. Nice drive out admiring the lovely Cotswold cottages on arriving it was incredibly busy the car park is very uneven and took some navigating to avoid being ground out. The farm shop had a queue to get in but was very disappointed as most of the shelves were empty. Bought some chilli marmalade the headed into Chipping Norton for lunch and a coffee.
