Left the wetshed this morning at 10:00 a few hirers returning their Richo’s boats , good to see the yard full of life once again .
On our journey downstream on the Ant we passed a very happy looking crew aboard their new and very smart looking “Mermaid” , congratulations once more to the three of you , moored up at Ludham so we could drop the screens etc as the marker was showing 7ft3” so it would have been touch and go without lowering them , Horning staithe was full so about turn and we settled on Ranworth where we are now safely moored for the evening , sadly the taxi rank is occupied .
The leccy is still off and the damaged moorings on the front have still not been repaired .
Wait until you go past St Bennett at least 2/3rds of the moorings are taped off.

I had the same problem on Nipper I had a stainless one made by the Fabrication Company at Blofield that I cannot remember the name of. I think it was around £80 and took about a week.

It's on the Thames though. Cost a bit to transport it assuming you could lift at that end. Looks a good price though unless there's something wrong with it.
You could always go by water, I know a young lady that might be up for a trip, see does have form in this type of thing

This is not the first time it’s had prop shaft problems. I guess they don’t build them like they use to.

So, Ive sat through it.
I offer a summary for those that haven't got 3 hours
Feel free to argue if you were there or have listened
8 Every time the idea of just dredging the Bure deeper was raised everyone from the agencies looked really uncomfortable. The EA say that the amount of dredging to make a difference is huge. They keep pointing out that tides work in both directions, and they always say that the salt incursion problem could be made worse. Killing a lot of fish is plainly a possible consequence.
The amount of water coming in from the sea should be the same as what flows out, but the problem is as Vaughan stated there is a an abundance of run of water joining it from land so it therefore exceeds the ability of the water to flow out in the same time scale.
I felt from the meeting that there is no joined up thinking between the various agencies to try and come to a solution.

Be careful when taking out breakdown cover as most companies now don’t cover cars over 10 years old. Like most policies it’s all in the small print.

A question on the Chase tonight was.
Which area is home to 3 villages which have National Park visitor centres. The answer was the Norfolk Broads. But can anyone name the 3 villages. ? -

Hmmmmm! My insurance renewal came in a few days ago. We have a Multicar policy, which includes the buildings insurance for our bungalow (but not the contents). The cost last year was £961 and the renewal came in at £1285, an increase of more than 33%. I drive a seven year old ŠKODA Octavia vRS TDi and the wife has a three year old Kia Sportage AWD, neither being prestigious or of a particularly high value.
Hearing that there’s been significant increases in insurance rates, due in part to the fire at a multi-storey car park in Luton that resulted in about 1500 vehicles being written off, I’d already made some enquiries with other insurers, as well as a couple of the comparison sites.
Frankly, no one was cheap, one company who has a talkative dog as their advertising mascot quoting me almost £800 for my car alone, so I phoned our current insurers and negotiated the cost down to £1202 for both cars and the bungalow.
Cant say that I’m happy, but judging by some of the quotes I had, there’s not much to be gained by looking elsewhere. 🤨
The dog insurance company does both the Focus ST and the Z4 for just under £500.

I regularly used water to ballast Nipper down to get under potter. It went from 6-5 ft aircraft to 6-1 ft at the lowest.

If you buy a car over 40k new , secondhand you pay £500 odd until the car is 5 years old then it drops to £180. By putting it on sorn you declare it off-road Then when you re tax it you pay the lower amount. Only problem comes if you have a private plate you cannot take the number off on line if the car has been sorned in the last 5 years it has to be done by post.

My uncle use to change his oil on a v6 Clio every 3000 miles. He use to give it to his neighbour who used it to do an oil change on his ford focus. Now that’s what I call recycling.

I can relate to that one. Only car I’ve owned where the engine spent more time on the bench than in the car.

Took my car to the main dealer for a service yesterday, when I went to collect it the lady on reception explained that with the service I receive 12 months of breakdown cover including at home onward travel and over night accommodation if required all for the sum of £205. Halfords basic service was more than that and I would trust them with a barge pole.

For goodness sake!
I've just caught this but it looks like within 10 hours of it appearing here we are trying to pin it on JP!
But for the sake of a couple of minutes googling one can see that this couple gave up their professions to invest in the place in 2022. Well if my maths is correct that's about last year then. A brilliant time to invest just as everyone is flush with cash??? Not. A gamble. Fair play to them for giving it a go but they blame rising costs of wholesale stuff. Best to get out before you lose too much then.
So what does "permanently" actually mean for the future of the place? Convert to a nice house or does another business take over? I guess we'll see.
They cannot be doing to bad, a nice new estate car appeared outside earlier this year and that wasn’t cheap.
