  1. A letter in our local EDP that adds weight to James's blog:
  2. At the end of the twenty then go for the next twenty, after that perhaps the next ten would be more realistic!
  3. A honeymooner's trip up onto Surlingham Broad, obviously just the two of you, cook an unbelievable meal, down a pint of red, be grateful for those forty years, raise a glass towards the next twenty, enjoy each other's company and watch the sunrise on the 41st year, cuddled up in each other's arms and not just because the heating has packed up!
  4. Okay, scrub the bacon roll, a Yarmouth special instead, a sausage roll! By the way, congratulations!
  5. Surlingham Ferry springs immediately to mind. Alternatively take a trip to Yarmouth Market and treat her like Royalty, a bowl of mushy peas, a bacon roll and a bag of chips! A Belgian bun from Greggs for afters followed by a game of bingo at the Palace then a trip to Matalan to spend your winnings. What more can a lassie ask of her man?
  6. A certain 'pub landlord' might have a thing or two to say about that! So long as Adnams stays Southwold.
  7. In this case links to the relevant blogs, information that James is content to go public with, have been provided. I'm, to a degree, between the devil and the deep blue sea on this one, I can only publish a link when the author goes public, I'm sure that you can appreciate that. From my perspective James is more articulate and very often better informed than myself so I am content to pass on links to his blogs.
  8. Especially those in leather hats and talking with a strange accent.
  9. James has already submitted comments within his blogg that should surely be an adequate response.
  10. If we take Horning Street as an example then the BA is responsible for one side whilst the local council is responsible for the other. This has already resulted in a lack of consistency from one side of the street to the other. That is just one example, there's plenty more. .
  11. Needless to say, Breydon, but I disagree! By and large there would be no need for an army of pen-pushers if anglers were to police themselves. For those who want to fish fifty two weeks of the year then what's to stop them? Plenty of pits, puddles, lakes and canals, plus the open sea, all there for those who want it. For those who want and respect the close season then we have our rivers thus there is a close season for those who want it and for those who don't, well there are plenty of opportunities for them too. Hands off our rivers!
  12. Providing links to relevant groups, organisations & individuals would, I know, be appreciated. Individuals might include MP's or local government people for example. James Knight is contactable via FaceBook.
  13. Isn't there a relatively small jumble at the Broads Museum at Stalham sometime during the spring?
  14. Yet more wise words and observations emanating from James's keyboard: http://www.thebroadsblog.co.uk/2019/01/some-thoughts-on-glover-review.html?fbclid=IwAR0bAtf14HjrCTvpsmo1zUCgCHTAOabl7hzJrhxtGMjmhZFvT_DZEBL9ewk Once again, well worth reading.
  15. Jeanie, the nice folk at 'Galleon' boat storage & moorings, down Puddingmoor, have always allowed DIY. You could save money by doing all the labouring, e.g. stripping the old decking off and then finding a local boatbuilder, NOT a carpenter, who will do the skillful bits for you.
  16. Reckon PumpMedic will need to buy a 65 footer just to accommodate the delivery crew and their liquid requirements plus three 'heads' (bogs) for subsequent discharge purposes!
  17. Hi Jeanie, sad news, my friend is booked up for months. To redeck a small boat means that the boat needs to come out of the water and have platforms around her to work from, its is not a job that can easily be done afloat. I redecked a 26 footer about eight years ago, had I paid a boatyard to do it then I suspect that it would have cost me, based on time and materials used , not less than four thousand pounds. That's not to say that every 26 footer will cost the same. It isn't just the decks but new quadrants where the deck meets the cabin side, new toe rails around the top edges and new rubbing strakes around the side edges and then the sheathing and paint for the decks. Fortunately I only had to replace one deck beam and the shelf that the deck sit upon was sound otherwise it could have cost me more.
  18. Saw this on Face Book Market Place: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1828751734100268 These boats have their fans, few problems in mooring, manageable, good to learn on, great fun, fits under Broads bridges, good first rung on the ladder and if you don't then like boating you can always sell it & you won't have lost a fortune!
  19. Volunteer is most certainly the right word! We just love the opportunity to help/show off to new brethren of the rhond. CDs might include The Singing Postman, just to teach you how to talk proper! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHe4tMN6IeE
  20. Just don't get us started on flag etiquette and trailing fend-offs!
  21. If she is on the Broads then a volunteer delivery crew is guaranteed, in return for a full English. Lowloaders are good, so long as the driver understands boats. Re brokers and surveyors, get the right of both and not a problem, at least on the Broads. Would be quite happy to take a preliminary peep.
