  1. I went to the Salhouse Stag about 2 months ago on a Sunday with fellow white boat sailors after a walk possibly up to 20 of us. It was packed - on Sunday they only do roasts but mine was excellent and was everyone elses. We all had to pre order due the size of the party. It wasn't cheap though. Not been in the week
  2. I couldn't make it/help out as it was my grandson's birthday but the club Facebook posts sound like it was an excellent day and the Galley was very busy!
  3. Check the wind direction and go for a sheltered area, also check the future forecast in case the wind direction might change or increase in the night. I like the NW corner but there are often moored yachts to avoid
  4. My understanding is that the lady who runs said dog grooming business is having to relocate and does already a solid Horning client base
  5. Yes same chain plus the Lodge at Salhouse and a few others away from the river. If I am right in thinking the Rising Sun doesn't take bookings though so it is first come first served. All the other pubs in the group you can book a table.
  6. Hoveton Little Broad re opens at the end of May Bank Holiday. It was nowhere near as bad last year compared to 2022. Sailing on the broad resumed at the end of July.
  7. Billow was at some point owned by Andy Beardshaw. There was a nice wooden boat over the river at Horning for some years - possibly a Bates?
  8. I can vouch for it being cold I was on rescue boat at Horning. Cold wet and windy - glad you are okay though!!!
  9. I'm missing something somewhere? I didn't realise the rudder had been replaced or did I miss that. I know the old one the bearing was loose? But didn't realise there was a new one in place??
  10. Found another photo of the previous incarnation 2009
  11. If you remove the box over the steering quadrant you or a crew member will get there ankles clipped very painfully or be sent in the river. The current model which was more streamlined was fitted around 10/12 years ago replacing quite a large contraption that Herbert Woods carpenters fitted back in the late 1960s!
  12. We had a very early start this morning so went to bed early. Needless to say couldn't get to sleep, woke up every hour and to top it all we had two mini power cuts which set the bedside clock flashing twice and the phone bleeped because it lost power! It's going to be a long day. Currently waiting to board le Shuttle
  13. I wouldn't say stupid at all - the question is if you had been on your own would you have made the same decision or would you not even have gone south anyway?
  14. That's what I read and the presumed new owner commented to that effect on said post
