That’s a nice looking boat and reasonably priced. Can anyone tell whether it’s the same kind of boat as Bella Donna? Only the head height was very low inside that one and precludes us ever taking her again.

Sounds like it was another enjoyable trip Kate. Hope it will be a great experience for your daughter and her family.

Have a great day Grace. All parents should be thankful that there are so many people happy to work looking after and teaching our children.

I did notice that certainly where I live a lot of the vegetation just suddenly sprang to life. Must be the weather conditions we’ve had. Hopefully the right people will get to the places soon to maintain them. Personally I take part in lots of consultative surveys about service preferences for the council areas where I live.

Apologies to M&P. I had edited my post but you had already picked it up and quoted it. But I stand by the part I decided to remove. Doing nothing but cruise between Ranworth and Horning mooring at each on alternate days would deny a lot of other boaters the chance to use those spots.

You do see on some of the canal vlogs that they are also monitored for how far they travel in a year.

Sadly I have personal knowledge of someone who has only had two hires, both from different yards and both with poor handovers IMHO. The first didn’t let either member of the party try mooring up. Only let them have a brief go at the helm and then insisted on stern mooring the boat back at the yard himself. The second was with a different yard so they asked to do a side on mooring while on their trial run. The answer was no, you’ve got bow thrusters so you’ll be fine. I was so disappointed by this but have resisted naming either yard here .. you might be very surprised if I did.

Sounds like another lovely day Kate. And what a great way to look at all the different experiences you give your friends.

Lovely write up Kate. I thought it looked a little misty this morning too. I guess there are certain moorings that are the ones likely to be busy even if the rivers seem a little quiet. It’s been a great week for showing off the Broads.

Nice to see you home and enjoying the day Ian. 🤗

Beautiful photos and a warm sunny summer’s day in the forecast. ☀️

Many thanks to Oldgregg for getting that fix applied so quickly. The site is working so much better this morning.

Water
in Broads Chat
We’ve got a meter where we are. Don’t mind it really, it makes you think about how much you’re using … Just as you do on a boat. 🤭

It’s a bit more of a pain than I first thought because it’s not showing unread items correctly now. I also got a random message notification earlier as well for something from a long time ago.

Has anyone else noticed that they’re being asked to accept something almost every time they come to the site? Seems to have been happening over the last couple of days. And this morning the site can’t seem to decide whether I’m logged in or signed out. One minute I’ve got one view, the next it’s asking me to sign in but if I reload the page without doing anything I’m back as I was. Not a major problem just a minor irritation but I wondered whether anyone else had seen this.

Water
in Broads Chat
There was a burst water main near where I am. We were very fortunate not to lose our supply but the water pressure was noticeably lower than usual.

First weekend of the new fishing season too. I did have a look but even at a discounted rate the June prices are too high for me this year, especially for just 3 nights.

Still never been to Cornwall. 🤭 Have a lovely holiday. ☀️😎☀️

It’s the usual thing of having gone from 13 degrees to a forecasted 27 degrees in a couple of days with not enough nice inbetween bit. Gardening done. Feet up for a while … and the rest of a Roys lemon drizzle cake to have with coffee later.

All I can say is that some weekends and over half term there have been quite a few people about. But Wroxham in general has felt very quiet, not much traffic, not many people around, and not like a summer season yet. Maybe hirers are generally fewer so far this year. July and August may be the true test. This may be the first time in more than ten years that we don't hire, we've nothing planned at the moment.

Only two dayboats arriving between 12:00 and 15:00 and only two people sitting at the pub. That’s more like November than a sunny, warm June afternoon.
Don’t forget yesterday was a working day for many people. And the weather here has been like November until the last couple of days. Plus Friday is either a changeover day or people position themselves for a Saturday return. Given so many of the boats out now seem to be Richardson’s or Herbie Woods’ then Ranworth isn’t ideal for that.

Well done Nik. Apologies that I dropped out halfway through. Got distracted with family here this weekend.

Interesting article. And if it’s stopping people overstaying thereby giving more people a chance to use the moorings and access the facilities then that’s a good thing.
