  1. Originally we were going to have a pootle around this morning, maybe to St Benet's for a dog walk, but as we ended up on our home mooring last night we decided to get our refuel and pump out this morning (we can use the marina facilities for the rest of today and tomorrow). Then we can take the dogs to Caister on Sea for a walk either this morning or afternoon and make a start on packing and cleaning.
  2. Looking forward to meeting up Kate. Just hope Pozzick respects your new carpet. The good news is that he hasn’t had a single ‘accident’ on this trip…not even when we passed the Postwick Viaduct. In fact, he’s been very content on board. Glad to see you managed a visit to the secret gardens.
  3. In the event, another boat moored behind Luna before we got there. We were rather late, as we didn’t want to pass though Gt Yarmouth until about half an hour after slack water (we have found that water keeps flowing down the Bure after the flow on Breydon has turned). So it was getting on for 5pm when we went through Yarmouth, and probably around 7 or later when we passed Upton Dyke and waved at Sam and Graham. It seems a lot busier up north than last week so, although there were wild moorings to be had, we ended up on our home mooring shortly before sunset.

    Plan B

How long are you down for? Looking forward to hearing more of your adventures.
  5. You may well do, unless there is a tempting space at Stokesby (unlikely). We'll give a beep and wave 👋. You have scotched our plans though. The end of Upton Dyke seemed a handy place to stop. Are you likely to have any idea early evening of whether there might be any space on the Staithe?
  6. After overnighting at Bramerton we are well on our way this morning, having just passed the Beauchamp Arms on our way to Hardley Cross. We thought that would be a good place to stop for a dog run and brunch before making our way back north this afternoon. The Aweigh App is forecasting slack water at Yarmouth for about 4.15.
  7. Chameleon is stalking us (LOL). They arrived shortly after we did at Rockland yesterday and are now moored in front of us at Norwich.
  8. We very much enjoyed our lunch at Shiki in Tombland (opposite to the Cathedral). We both had bento. You choose a main and side dish and it comes with rice, a bowl of miso soup and a little side salad, also a little dish of marinaded jellyfish salad. I chose pork in a ginger and spring onion sauce as my main, Harry had breaded pork with teriyaki sauce. For sides I had sushi and Harry sashimi, though we did swaps. My dish ... Harry's... Yum!
  9. Left Rockland St Mary @07:30. Arrived Norwich Yacht Station @10:00. As usual, Graham says he's quite happy to stay with the boat whilst Harry and I have a wander around Norwich.
  10. We saw it turning from a distance, then when we got closer it stopped! (We thought 'sods law', as Harry was planning to video it.) Luckily it started up again just before we went past.
  11. Just had an excellent and very keenly priced lunch in the New Inn. Highly recommended!
  12. Got in on the Staithe at Rockland St Mary. On electric for the first time this trip (apart from when on our home mooring). Only one other boat here. On the way we thought the southern rivers are exceptionally quiet for May. More like March really. There wasn't much that went passed us yesterday afternoon when we were moored at Worlingham either. The number of boats we passed today on both rivers and the New Cut was probably not much more than ten. Maybe the Silvercraft fleet having moved up north makes the difference?
  13. You're telling me. I was awake early this morning, having turned in particularly early yesterday evening, and a car drew up on the bank about 5am. The guy chatted with someone (presumably on his phone?) for about half an hour before leaving. He obviously wasn't fishing, so why was he there?
  14. Passing through the New Cut @ 10:45. Seren doesn't like the sound of the waves against the hull. That's why she's on Harry's knee.
  15. We have done an overnighter at Worlingham last year, or it might have been the year before. Very peaceful anyway. The boat that joined us left before 5, so we now have the mooring to ourselves. Graham is busy. He's a man on a mission...spent most of the afternoon sanding down various bits of wood trim, currently varnishing. Me...sitting in a folding chair on the hardstanding beside the quay heading just chillin'.
  16. Didn't travel far today. Worlingham Staithe was free, so we bagsied a spot. Another boat turned up whilst we were sorting our ropes. So that's the staithe full up. That was lucky! And the sun is shining brightly.
  17. Currently at Beccles for a brief stop for Lidl, water top-up, rubbish disposal, paddle board license for Harry and, most importantly, ice cream.
  18. Agree with Garryn, much more pleasant than following the main Horning to Ludham road.
  19. Yes, we spotted you. Breydon was fine for us, but then we were going the opposite direction!
  20. Phew, that was a good cruising day. Left Horning around 8am, arrived Geldeston Dyke just after 4.30. Just one other boat in the dyke, the very pristine (as always) Kingfisher.
  21. We spotted Rambling Rosie as we passed. Just didn't spot you in your galley. Where have the promised 'sunny spells' got to? At least it's not raining.
  22. Graham and Harry got back safely yesterday evening. I got quite jittery yesterday, mainly because I'd spotted on my calendar that yesterday was 62 years since my father's death (he died in an accident at work). We had the alarm on for 7 this morning as we'll shortly be on our way for the passage through Gt Yarmouth.
  23. I obviously missed that. The fields looked pretty soggy after all the rain that we've had the last few days, so even if I'd found the track it might not have worked out so well. The track that lead to Horning Hall was pretty wet too, but at least it was doable in walking boots.
