    Advice Please

Hello there, I think it is 33 sleeps until we come for our 2 weeks on Encore 2. I wonder if there is public mooring at Stalham or is it best to use the boatyard (with permission)? We also hope to get under Potter Heigham bridge if the water is low enough, really cannot wait. Meg
  2. Hi Bryan and Mrs Bryan Thanks for this lived the days with you. I am hiring Encore 2 for 2 weeks in September cannot wait .Might do the adventures of two grey haired ladies this time! Pleased to hear the boat handles well.
  3. Thank you Gracie, it backs up what I have experienced. Most people are only too willing to help. My favourite saying is "If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem!" You are clearly a solution person Gracie
  4. Hi Robin What a memory! I did rather hang around hoping to catch you on your return. As you say once you have the boating bug nothing puts you off. We made friends when on the broads at Gays Staithe and they come all the way up from near Southampton each year. Your advice on the blog to get out and enjoy life is so important, I wish I had known I loved boats years ago. I suppose it might be in the blood as great grandfather was a Brixham fisherman. Keep the blogs coming please
  5. Hello Robin You and I actually met once and only when I watched the blog did I realise that earlier on your boat had been afire! No wonder my joke about tin openers fell flat. I see my title has caused comment, sorry not got that sort of mind. One of my best friends is a lady Vicar, I am sure she gets a discounted call charge. Happy sailing.
  6. Hi Chelsea14Ian, we are there from 5th all being well, we will look out for Sweetkingfisher.
  7. We have a day boat for a week this time. We have the new Barnes Encore for two weeks in September. We love their Omega but also love the Ant and Ludham bridge was a problem a couple of times last year. Excellent chap at the bridge boat yard though, think he is called George, he was prepared to help us through if needed (we managed it).
  8. Hi We two grey haired ladies are hiring a Barnes property from 6th.It comes with a free day boat! Would it be presumptuous to stick (temporarily fix) my logo to such a modest craft? I hope you regulars have got the weather sorted out?
  9. Hi Robin By the time you read this you will be back home. I just want to say how much I enjoy travelling along with you, thank you. Well done also in encouraging people to be more open and talk about difficult stuff, very topical just now, but you were first.

    New Comer

We have hired from different yards and our first was a disaster, 4 ladies all wanting own bathroom and a boat that steered like a rudderless bath! Only lasted until we got wedged in a private marina. Thankfully an elderly bloke took over and got us out of there! He asked where the rest of the crew were and laughed when I said in the forward cabin praying that someone would come and help! We hightailed it home then. It took 4 years before it faded enough for us to brave it again. We now hire from Barnes and we are very pleased with their service and friendly attitude.

Thank you for the welcome. I nearly qualify as an ancient mariner! A friend and I hire a boat for a couple of weeks each year. I steer she does ropes, we do get a few comments as two grey haired ladies but usually good natured. I watched u tube for mooring tips and now I am improving. See you in September
