  1. Thank you for your observations, I am coming down on Thursday to have a look. My Marina being very kind and helpful offering alternatives.
  2. Hello everyone' the reports of my demise are premature! My Norfolk Dream is moored stern on in Wroxham and it's like climbing the Eiger to get on or off. Water levels are the lowest I have seen. Is this a general occurrence or is there a drain hole open somewhere? Alternatively I will have to buy a hoist. Hope to see you out and about soon.
  3. Hi' so nice to have the Captain blogging again and hearing you others are out and about. I hope to have a chug or two on Norfolk Dream during the winter. Is there electric at Sutton staithe and Neatishead? Like to keep quietly warm overnight. Hope to see some of you around. Thanks Robin you cheer me up.
  4. Oh dear wish I had stayed. It was lovely to meet you all at Ranworth, it made my first solo chug very memorable. Thank you for helping me cast off. Safe and sound on home mooring with no problems. I hope you had a lovely meal and some good fun .
  5. I will come as soon as allowed pubs or not, last year was not the best with chemotherapy and hair loss. This year has started well recovering and growing new hair thanks to excellent NHS. Norfolk Dream needs some TLC which I cannot wait to give her. Hoping for good news tomorrow from Boris and pubs would be a nice bonus
  6. Thanks folks I don't feel so bad now.
  7. Hi fellow boaters. Just an apology to the two or three boats I met as I left Wroxham. I had a row boat on my starboard side' the sun blinding me and my hat below. decks. My boat had had a steering leak fixed which I didn't realise until I got the email. So instead of my usually a bit slack steerage, suddenly it is spot on and I hadn't found my mid point, I had taken the helm from my friend who dashed off hat hunting. So thanks for the shouted comments and wild waves! I don't blame you one little bit. I promise to do better next time. Meanwhile no one hit or swamped, the crew lectured on sunhat positions and explanations to friends about boating language. Happy days ,good job I only have 3 friends with new rules.

    Learning The Ropes

Thank you I have learned not to try and steer but get lined up and go back with minimal adjustment. i need 2 more feet at the front to achieve this comfortably. Or instead of calling out nervously stand on your boat and give some practical guidance. I need to know where to position myself so when I pivot I'm in the right place. Oh well I am sure the adventures of Norfolk Dream will eventually be hassle free, meanwhile many thanks and wave in a friendly manner if you see me..

    Learning The Ropes

Thank you everyone it is that finger pontoon with another boat alongside that is the worry, my crew are ready with a spare fender and boat hook so that is not the worry. There are two boats moored along side opposite my mooring so when I am going forward to get lined up there really is no room for error. I will persevere and work out prop walk' I think it pulls to port. I think it is having a nervous audience worrying me. Happy Days ahead
  10. Hello everyone . I wonder if anyone can recommend a course of instruction. I have had plenty of hire craft experience but mostly bath tub style. I now have Norfolk Dream a 29' Broom HT. Whilst I understand and can safely carry out general cruising. I would like instruction on getting into small space stern moorings. I have bow thrusters but my Marina mooring is tight, I almost wiped out a tethered dingy yesterday much to the annoyance of those concerned. It is about what position to start turns etc and how to judge front distance when you cannot see it. I thought I had heard of someone offering (paid of course) to do training courses. I just want to feel able to enjoy her. Many thanks
  11. I loved all the photographs, thank you if Norfolk Dream provides that much pleasure I will be well happy. On another topic my boat needs some TLC in the window dep't, Where can you get flocked rubber window channelling. I've seen it on line but have no idea what size I need. the helm windows are worst but reckon the rest could do with a bit of love too. As ever grateful for your wisdom.

    Nanni Engines

Thank you everyone that's very helpful. What with lockdown not been any further than Salhouse yet but she has a Garmin measuring device and seems to perform like the Brittany one. I will look out for Norfolk Lady and give you a shout. I bought her from Norfolk Boat Sales as part exchange. She is a lovely boat. Again good info thanks

    Nanni Engines

Hello Forum friends I wonder if anyone can tell me what HP a Nanni 50 engine is. I purchased Norfolk Dream earlier this year and despite hanging upside down in the engine bay only have advertised 50 as engine type and the Nanni website is a minefield. Just trying to get some idea of likely fuel consumption. Many thanks
  14. Wow what a great poem, bang went my resolve not to get emotional! I live alone with my poodle Harry but neighbours are ready if I need anything. I am really eager to get back to the Broads as we all are. I exchanged Legacy (Alpha 29) for Norfolk Dream Broom 29 HT. Apart from my demonstration run she sits patiently waiting. I did get curtains home for a wash then lockdown. I hope you are staying safe God Bless
  15. Please can anyone give me a rule of thumb guide as to how to check my fenders are correctly inflated? depress how much please for near enough
  16. Once again thank you everyone, I will certainly give Jayfire a shout if near when mooring. We have just had a week on Sonnet from Barnes as Legacy was not quite ready for stay aboard. Sometime soon though. I have always said "why cannot we have hot weather for our holiday". The hottest day we sat under a beech tree at Gays Staithe much to the amusement of the locals who had a comment or two about no stamina! Had a lovely time though and I must commend Barnes on their prompt response to a problem with the engine. If you were the boat I shouted at under Ludham bridge , sorry but my drive was playing up and I had no fine control which of course only manifested itself just there and then. Barnes arrived in minutes and sorted it out with no fuss despite us all perspiring like racehorses! Photos of Legacy soon, I promise.
  17. Thank you everyone so pleased to be afloat. Someone will have to tell me how to upload photos." Its them megabites !" bothering me. Is mobile phone best format.
  18. A very warm welcome to this most friendly forum. Happy days
  19. No she wasn't that one but I get your point about the name! She's probably much older than that one with a slightly different configuration. Suits me though, hadn't got much to spend on a boat and as an "Old Un" not that many years to cruise. Not hoping to pop me clogs for a long while! but bones get stiff and hips and stuff, so a couple or three years will do nicely.
  20. Well it has been an exciting time. I have bought an Alphacraft 29 Sports bridge, re named her Legacy because that's how I could afford her. A friend and I are still getting to grips with a thorough clean through and a bit of varnishing as well as making her dog safe. Chugged up and down a bit and practised mooring, peered at the engine checked the bilge pump and tried to look like I am an old hand! This Saturday another friend and I are on a hire boat, Sonnet 3 from Barnes. We decided to still have this holiday as Legacy isn't quite kitted out for a week yet, so hope to get some waves as we cruise by "the hand type not like storm Doris last year, very choppy"! I will do photos later in the year.
  21. Thank you all very much for the posts. I will return if I need specific information. So pleased to have all this expertise at my fingertips.
  22. Thank you but I think they are halogen, hope to know quite soon.
  23. Hello Forum members, I know the rascal described changing lights on Trixie to cause less amperage (if that's a word) Is this a simple exercise or do you need to be an expert? I excitedly might soon need to know how to do several boaty things but as Griff would say I'm saying now't until and if it happens, don't want to put the kybosh on it. many thanks
  24. The big building is called Sail loft, the blue boat looking one is called the boat house then there are the daisy broad lodges, the ones you describe are as stated across the river. The advantage of booking with Barnes at certain times of the year is they provide a free day boat for your use. I have stayed in all types except new ones and found them all very clean well equipped and comfortable. The Daisy broad lodges have outside space the others have balconies. Hope you find something you like, enjoy.
