  1. I haven't walked the hound and goodness knows what has happened to the washing. I am so pleased they're safe and can stop watching out for huge seas.
  2. I had not heard the news that Robin was unwell and had disembarked at Dover, so please forgive what now looks like an insensitive post. I hope by now Robin you are back to your cheerful self and looking for ward to seeing Indy hove into sight.
  3. When did Robin get off? Surely he hasn't missed the peaks and troughs,I recall he got excited on Breydon and steered in and out of a fast boat's wake. If he was looking at the photos of Indy apparently playing submarines I expect he is lying down in a darkened room!
  4. So pleased to know you are in a safe haven. At one point watching vessel finder there was a lifeboat showing nearby then I read it had been there all day so stopped worrying. Have a nice meal a jar and a well deserved rest. You must be very tired, I am just watching.
  5. Hi Lad & Lasses, I seem to have lost the itinery for the rest of the Independence trip to Norfolk. Can some one put it up please.
  6. Well done Robin and team Indy, I hope Sheila soon gets her sea legs, if not maybe she could get one of those travel sickness bands. Robin you looked very worried I hope things look better now. Rest up tonight ready for tomorrows adventure.
  7. Indy Crew. Enjoy your dinner and breakfast you will only need lunch to have a grand slam. Have found you on marine tracker along with a friend who is on a yacht in Antigua, your voyage more interesting than his. God Speed.
  8. Well done Indy crew, I hope Robin knows how blest he is to have you. That was an awesome wave. Was anyone sick? Good luck for tomorrow.
  9. How refreshing that in this world full of "what ifs" and sensible nonsense, there's a man following a dream. I for one wish I were 40 years younger and had the courage to take a leap of faith. Good luck Robin, I don't know who said it someone said "If you always do what you have always done you will always get what you have always got". May you get lots of pleasure in doing something new.

    New Year

Well at last I can say I am coming to the Broads THIS YEAR. Not actually counting the sleeps yet though. Happy 2018 forum pals, the nights are pulling out and the year is gearing up for each of us. I hope if you have been unwell you will soon be better and all those undergoing tests will get positive news. In other words A Happy Healthy New Year to one and all.
  11. Hi Robin I hope all goes as you plan, I assume this is not a boat to be seen anywhere near Wroxham. I will miss the blogs. It wont be the same if I cannot imagine being along the same bit of river at some future date. Good Luck
  12. We always wave and are so chuffed to get one in return. Have been known to shout out good morning loud enough to wake the dead (Encore blog by Bryan has an example).
  13. Hope all goes well with you operations and you will soon be back chugging.
  14. Hi When we passed this last week I assumed it was for cars that drive down to the rivers edge. Am I wrong or are you all pulling my leg. I noticed a sign saying the boat charge is to be paid to the warden, a charge for lunchtime stop and another for over night. I do not mind a small charge if it means I can moor. Had a lovely fortnight despite poor weather some days. Most alarmed to see river bank passing early one morning but on checking land side reassured still tied up, it was a piece of bank that had come adrift and was heading into Sutton Staithe after the storm. Poor chap who had the task of towing it back where it had come from with all us grockles watching. He did it eventually.
  15. A warm welcome from me too, it is a great forum.
  16. I certainly hope so and best wishes to your wife, excellent footage as usual. I wish I had seen those starlings (I presume), There is a fantastic roost at Fen Drayton near the guided bus way, I hope to go late Autumn.
  17. Hello Robin, I do not think you will have any problem getting a job, it would seem you can turn your hand to most things. I wish you well in your new adventure and hope it doesn't stop the blogs. Remember someone once said" life is too short to stuff a mushroom", time is pretty slippery stuff and so do not waste any of it.
  18. Hello Bryan as you say what a week, thanks for your help with guiding Gill and I in at Womack also good advice on mud weight deployment, we saw several people really struggling with theirs. I had a chance to speak to the owner at Barnes when we returned, he took time when really busy to listen about tightness of bed space and frosted glass opposite the shower room. He did say it is helpful if users point things out. We had no problems with Encore 2 fixtures and fittings ok and it handled very easily and I held station at How Hill for a punting Wherry really well even if I say so myself ,not a boat to bump into! Happy days

Thank you everyone especially Kingfishers Time, I grasped that finally. Water is obviously tricky stuff and not to be taken lightly!

Hello I feel in my bones this is a silly question but despite the howl you make it somehow seems logical. The tide table says for Wroxham add 4.5 hours to the time given for Gorleston high water, ok so it takes 4.5 hours for the water to travel to Wroxham, got that. Is it the same 4.5 hours for low water to occur or as it seems to me will Wroxham will be lower quicker than that! It sounds even dafter written down, sorry.
  21. Hello Paul. A very warm welcome I hope you have a great time and fabulous weather Meg

Hello you lucky people chugging about on the broads, I hope you are having a lovely time. What is the bridge clearance like at Potter Heigham these days. Cannot wait to get our boat and join in the chugging only 17 days to wait. Will not bring suitcases or high heels ( I always do a Dick Emery anyway!) Have my logo ready to put in the window and about to buy more bags for life for packing. So the two grey haired ladies afloat will be a having a laugh soon.

    Advice Please

Thank you everyone, Bryan says Barnes Encore marked as 6'10". Earlier in the year I found a reference saying 6'4" air draft, of course I cannot now find it to check. Is there a difference between air draft and clearance or are they the same thing. Meg
