I feel that I should point out, looking at the photographs again that my collection of "Dazzler" DVDs featuring lots of XXXXXs are in fact:-

The Saltire and Paul Murton's "Grand Tours of Scotland"

And there was me thinking ...., well along different lines shall we say. :default_icon_e_surprised:

  2. Sounds ike the lady was stressed, did she walk in front waving a red flag. :default_biggrin:

I dropped in for a coffee and to see somebody this afternoon and there was a spotty faced young man by the barrier cone who told me to park anywhere and yes there was kids walking around carting bags and things to their hire boats.

The policy was made to allow for a business to appeal in the case that they felt they really deserved a higher grading, The downside is that you can improve your grading, but it is still held back for 3-5 weeks in case you want to appeal. In the meantime internet media can freely cause damage to your business by highlighting what has now become an out of date grading. Doesn't seem fair, or what this forum should be about.

Agree completely with you about internet causing damage to a business but do feel the thread topic should be aired here considering how many people dine out when on a boat.

I’ve just checked the official scores on the doors website and The EDP reported correctly according to that site

    Beat me to it CC.

Whilst I applaud the “scores on the doors” hygiene rating system I cannot understand why the displaying of these ratings prominently is not mandatory and a condition of trading .

It is in Wales and Northern Ireland but only advisory in England. If it isn`t displayed then think the worst and move on is my advice.

  6. Having seen things backstage in upmarket hotels, country clubs, resturants, sandwich bars, and so on in London, Berkshire, and Oxfordshire as a service engineer it needs at least 4 stars before I part with my money.

When we married in sixty's we had a marble slab with a safe on top in cupboard under the stairs milk stood in bucket of water, then children came along then fridge purchased on hp, but one shopped daily then and milk delivered each day. John

    What was in the safe?

  8. Looks like it opens this weekend for drinks (no mention of food), seems as if it is aimed for the locals with live comedy and music nights, film nights, breakfast yoga classes, pottery classes, art gallery space, car shows and other ideas, yep road has had some work with more to follow and mention of work planned for the moorings.

As you know it is now a legal requirement that dogs are tethered in cars.... Almost impossible to police I guess but if tickets are issued during random stops or along with other offences.

My sisters dog steers better than she does.

Question, whilst I know all these boats have heating on board etc, I think I'm right in saying it can't be left on overnight or unattended. If this is the case, and temperatures dip below freezing outside, it must be bloody cold inside overnight?

Yep a big-ish boat with large windows can get cold inside very easily making having a remote to turn the heating on whilst still in bed a gods send.

Thanks Matthew, that was my first thought too. Strangely, Caribbean is the cheaper boat, but is the one with a bow thruster fitted and the pictures make the interior look slightly more modern.

I will show them both to local management and she will tell me which one I like best!

Good idea to keep local managment in the loop.
