Polly
When we had Rondonay, I just cleared the fabrics for winter and left the rest of our equipment aboard. Now with Brilliant coming out every year and sometimes needing work, I clear the lot, which necessitates a near-house move level of 'stuff'. I try to keep it down but every lay up shows that the clutter fairies have been at work again, next year I will be very determined to keep things simple ( just like last year......). Chelsea14Ian
Why do you take the boat every year?ours is coming out today or tomorrow that's the first time in four years
Polly
Wood. Not everyone with a woody does but Hunters who keep an historic fleet do, so Brilliant does too, she needs cherishing. So far it has been the right strategy for us. Rondonay was GRP and came out every three years or so.
Poppy
Poppy has a fibreglass hull and deck moulding. Every thing else is wood, and requires rubbing back and varnishing . Keeps me out of trouble over the winter .
Polly
I think that is the ideal combination Pops
Baitrunner
Iain, do your anodes last 4yrs? I know my boat is different and I have to get my legs serviced every 2 yrs, but some of my anodes seem to do their job quite well and would never last 4 yrs. I like to have a look at her bottom as well and clean her down and re antifoul so mine is done every 2yrs. Fortunately done last year so a cheaper winter for me this year - might even buy her indoors a Christmas present!!! Maybe some teak oil!!!!
Poppy
Poppy is now safely tucked away in a cosy shed until next April. I'm about to take the sails in to Jeckells for valeting and inspection, where they will stay safely until needed next year. Engine oil and filter changed, anode ordered. That's the easy work done .......
