JennyMorgan
The brown sail navy, in this case a flotilla of Drascombes, will be descending on James at the Waveney River Centre this weekend for a rally. We hope to visit Beccles on Saturday & Oulton Broad on Sunday. Keep your eyes open for us and your waving arms at the ready. The brown sail navy term originates from Holland and refers to the masses of traditional and traditional style boats they have over there.

JennyMorgan
A Drascombe Coaster makes a good choice for the Broads when a spot of sea-sailing is also an option. They sail reasonably well, motor very well and you have two comfortable berths, room for the dog and they can be trailed meaning you don't need expensive moorings. JennyMorgan
We went up to Beccles on Saturday, left my camera at home, but it was a grey day and the wind was light to nonexistent. Today we went from the WRC to Oulton Broad, the winds were very fickle, from near nothing to gale force, hence these two well reefed Drascombes. Good weekend, the WRC proved to be an excellent and popular venue.
Hylander
Peter watched you go by the Tea Gardens on your return on Sunday afternoon. What with the Yare Race and the Brown Navy it has been a really interesting time on the Broads.
Guest
They were a fine sight last year as well, at Hickling. Yes Peter, as you say, a truly versatile boat, sail, power, shallow inland waterways and also fully seaworthy. I came close to buying a Coaster myself about ten years ago, but unfortunately the first mate (SWMBO), has an aversion to even the slightest amount of heeling, so my cabin craft can't have any nasty sails....
