Mrs Nog has just been up to see if the shop is open but sadly it is closed again and up for sale.

This is very sad news for this shop in Reedham   ​ . We would always pop into the shop, when we had moored there. Ok stock in the shop was low / poor, but we could always find something for us to buy     . I am sure the local's of Reedham will miss the shop and post office    .

 

Please keep us posted who ever go's to Reedham over the winter mouths and fingers crossed that the shop reopens soon  .

From conversations in the ship at reedham it seems a lot of the locals don't use use the shop as it closes out of boating season so they just get used to the routine of heading off to supermarkets over winter, unfortunately a part-time business will always struggle to keep local trade.

If you go somewhere to find it shut once you will tend to head elsewhere next time, shame none the less, thats when the community run shops win out.

No where or no one can live on tourist trade alone and as I always say: Use it or loose it and with this shop, it never did cater for local trade. Well lets hope the next owners make the shop work for the community and the tourist .

Marina, lovely thought but I doubt it could make a reasonable living for anyone, surely it is just too small to be viable? Personally I shall miss it, always enjoyed poking around and they did have some nice souvenirs, even for a local.
