Oulton Broad Dredging

The dredger is back at the top of the Broad. Don't know how much the Authority is going to dredge this time but the more the better. Oulton Broad has accumulated a great deal of silt, clearing it can only improve the flow in the river. Obviously you'll need to keep clear of barges/wherries and their mooring wires.

The dredger is there, but where are the operators? Perhaps the dredger is having its statutory, annual holiday! Yet to see a single bucketful of silt being removed.

With a bit of luck they have gone to collect some cones from the 47.

Don't want to rush these things!!!

Lets hope they don't create another outbreak of the algae that killed all the fish up North - allegedly caused by some dredging maybe.

Getting the lock open and creating a bit of a flow might help!!

Iain, the dredger is clearly visible from my 'office', garden shed.

Soggy 'grass', no way, too hard to light.

Ah ha JM, they are maybe giving you prioriity treatment for all the years you supported the BA!  :naughty:

cheers Iain

I did actually support the acquisition of May Gurney by the Authority when I was on the Navigation Committee so perhaps you are right ;)

At last they are at it, grabbing at the Broad's bottom! There are buoys around the dredger, best not try and pass between them and the barge. The buoys indicate where mudweights have been positioned, sometimes there are wires stretched from the barge to the mudweights so best keep clear.
