  1. Fully agree Neil two UK shows for many companies is just too much. Excel is an excellent exhibition centre will good transport links but to me boats largely need to bro the water which is where Southampton scores although it could be done at Excel. I understand that there is a contract for the next two years so not sure how they will fare going forward. Noted absence of the Green propulsion units too.
  2. The UK's leading expert is out there somewhere
  3. He knows its rude to speak with his mouth full
  4. Sadly I think this photo says it all about LIBS! RIP LIBS http://www.motorboatsmonthly.co.uk/gall ... -boat-show When a boat show is about 'celebs' rather than boats in keeping and in the words of The Dragons "I'm Out"
  5. Yes Ian an ever decreasing number of boat builders outside the 'big three'. For the type of next boat we might be interested in there were none If you are happy at displacement speed the Jetten 44 was a heck of a lot of boat for your money. On the yacht front it was even more disappointing with very limited numbers although Oyster and Southerly had flagship models there but it would mean a lottery win! Fancy a trip to Paris next December

    hero 3 ???

Hi Jill I had a Hero 3 as a Christmas present to me, complete with digital back. I would not see this as a main stream camera for everyday use but more for specific purposes. I have mine for taking footage on the boat a normal camera just cannot take, either from the positions it can get or that a mainstream camera would be ruined by the water. The Hero 3 has built in Wi Fi and a remote which means for instance it could be mounted on a boat rail or radar arch and remotely switched on/of etc when needed. If you have an iphone there is an App that allows full Wi Fi control including changes in settings and preview. It has three angle settings for the field of vision wide/medium/narrow. Also the casing is waterproof down to 60 meters so it is popular with the diving community but great for us boaters to inspect our underwater gear. http://youtu.be/GuZoZpyRxUg As for quad copters a mate of mine has just paid a fair bit of money for a pro version so I am looking forward to his results these with a Go Pro show the possibilities http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckIpq8JApIQ&list=PLMk6laoZ93OK3xj7ldxl2AGqO30pvGXSg
  8. Went today and have to say overall pretty disappointing. The organisers have tried hard to lift a show that has an ever decreasing number of boats. Sun/Prin/Fairline were as ever the mainstay with a couple of Sealines and Broom with 3 boats. There are a few other e.g. Jetten, Trusty, etc. It is now just one hall encompassing the whole show. Pretty quiet for a first day but manufacturers say less tyre kickers and more quality prospects. Chandeliers doing reasonable business and we even found some Salt Away after years of trying to find some in the UK. A plethora on non boat related stands including cars, wine, outdoor furniture etc. I think the last time we will do London instead opting for Paris and making a weekend of it. A couple of poor phone camera snaps
  9. Spot the likeness and then get off to Specsavers It did not have enough power to pull a Hen off its nest but after the rubber band wound up we just saw of the Geeermans
  10. Seen these moored up but never quite doing what this is doing. Do you think the AA's could moan about it as it 'stretching its legs' on Breydon as it has rags attached
  11. You know your boats Jonny It is Van Lent as opposed to Hertz Van Rent
  12. 500k Sound like a valuation for insurance purposes! Which given Red Boards might be interesting. It was to have allegedly been carrying had trade plates on. from the Snail - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... ollen.html
  13. Oh it could be very tempting

  15. That is very impressive John, an indoor well
  16. Happy New Year one and all. Fingers crossed for the summer we all deserve in 2013
  17. If it were Summer I am sure it would fun, but at about 2c it looked a bit cool for splashing about in the water]
  18. Can't say fairer than that Clive. Most bases covered if you book, and security if you book early
  19. That was the finish Jill, I would guess the got there 12.30-13.00. You were probably busy getting retail therapy in the mill
  20. Considering it is a course of around 4 miles they don't do bad John. There was a few sipping Brandy at the finish I am sure purely medicinal Estimated 15,000 spectators so I am sure the RNLI had a good day. Considering it is just about one of the most land locked places in the UK I am sure the donations must have come as a bit of a surprise when it was first organised. Evidently this year is the 50th year it has been run
  21. In an effort to get some fresh air on Boxing Day we often take a trip to the Matlock Raft Race if we are at home. Quite a spectacle and all raising money for the RNLI by local Scuba Clubs. It is freezing but they seem undeterred in their efforts to raise quite a sum of money for an inland location, for the RNLI. It is a good social occasion where water and Flour are in abundance some fresh air is gained and donations made. Photo's are pretty poor as they are taken on a phone but you get the idea.
  22. Jet drives were fitted also to Oysters OM43 There was one at Titchmarsh for a while, not sure if it is still there.
