  1. Hi all,

Does anyone think that their boat is not normal, ie, a bathtub, not my wording you must realize, and would they really prefer a "normal" type of boat, remembering of course the issue of possible problems with bridges. Just a thought, and does anyone have their own thoughts on the subject.

    Regards

    Baz :Stinkycheersbar

    Baz, Hi

Over the years (31 to be exact) we've had all sorts of boats. From planing motor-cruisers to motor-sailors, back to planing and now, finally, ... wait for it...

    a bathtub! :naughty::naughty::naughty:

So no, we don't think of our bathtub as "not normal", just that she now fits our requirements absolutely ( as listed by Rod in the previous post).

When we wanted to go to sea then we had sea-going boats; now we have opted for the Broads and have what we think is the ideal boat for us (and the Broads). :clap:clap:clap

  2. Looks good JR,

When you bought FG1V I did say that you would only bash your head on the doors twice. From my own painful experiences with my own Alphacraft I do wish you well on the anti collision front. You of course being taller than me are more vulnerable.

It does hurt. Let me assure you. :cry:cry

    Rod, Hi

If you'd seen the state my head was in when Jax took butterfly stitches to it you'd probably have given up on me!!! I had to drink many large glasses of Gordons' Expectorant to get back on an even keel.... :naughty::naughty::naughty:

Those of you who were at the Spring Meet last year will no doubt remember the damage I did to my head on Friday Girl's old metal doors! :naughty::naughty: (Thanks again, Julz!).

So, with the fitting of canopies forward and aft at the end of last season, and the need for the doors to now open inwards, we took the plunge and talked with several UPVC companies. After several enquiries, Eastern Windows, 50 yards from our moorings at Bells, were the most helpful and competitive. They were also most helpful with several sensible suggestions we probably wouldn't have thought of! :clap:clap:clap

The doors are made in 70mm UPVC and are both solid and nice to look at!

And yes, David, I will remove the old catch when the weather is more conducive to re-gelling!

  4. Wayne, Hi

I don't see why you can't (but I'll probably be contradicted) substitute the thermal fuse with a simple in-line one at very much reduced cost.

No way can I see why the eber is powered by the cranking battery. The cranking battery is designed to do just that (crank) and NOT to power a domestic device...

  5. If you are lucky enough to be around the Broads and particularly Norwich in the summer you might be interested in “Norwich – City of Ale Event†which is running from 26th May to 5th June.

That's a goodie, thanks, Howard! cheersice slice

Now I only need to work out how to attend onboard Friday Girl AND get a decent night's sleep at Riverside! :naughty::naughty::naughty:

    Any suggestions???

  6. Andy and Sally, Hi

What an awful experience... we do hope there's not any lasting damage to the mechanics/electrics. :cry:cry:cry

I regret that we no longer are moored on a floating pontoon where you can keep your lines short enough to, at least, stop her sinking that far...

  7. Hi all, we are bringing our boat from the Great Ouse to Eastwoods in April transport provisionally booked.

I have never moved a boat before so what do I need to do?

Register it on the Broads does that change its current number?

    How much is the licence?

Do I have to drain everything or just switch off all?

I know the shipper will probably know everything but I would like to be fore warned what to expect.

    Is any member at Eastwoods?

    Paul

    Paul, Hi

You can pre-register and you will get a completely new licence number (and letters); You stick them to your transom and both forward quarters. You will need a Safety Certificate and Insurance.

Don't see why you should drain anything; just close all the sea cocks before or after you lift her. Dis-connect batteries to be safe. :dance

Hope all goes well with your move; any pics of the boat?
