The tendency to walk out on strike at the drop of a hat was one of the reasons we moved back to England.
Driving around Nice in the late 90's, there were lorry loads of post and parcels which had been dumped by the side of the motorway, blowing around.
Militant lot. I know - I married one

Not tool sure where you are but on the Bure and today the Ant it's been serene!
Hit at Ranworth, hit at St Benets. Poor chap at Ranworth got it wrong, got stressed and resorted to throttle, hitting everything in sight multiple times on Friday evening.

Dodgems up here at the moment.

That's great news, thank you.
Long may it continue. I have now removed anything of value from the boat and only take it with me if going out. It's amazing the amount of storage space I now have!!

Could we have an update on outboard and plotter thefts and general break-ins in the area? Are they still happening and where? Any collars felt?
Thanks Stuart

Is it just me, or have Reedham and Somerleyton swing bridges all but stopped replying to VHF calls?
It seemed to start last year or the year before and we noticed it again on Monday when we could hear a boat in front calling and calling Somerleyton to repeatedly ask when the bridge was next opening. No response at all, just opened after five minutes or so.
I know they have installed the information panels which you can just about make out with binoculars at a semi-safe distance, but it just seems rude to ignore calls especially when people call ahead to coincide with openings. By the time I can read the ones at Reedham coming downstream, I am past the 'no turn' point.
Do we go back to phoning them? Do we go back to sound signals? Seems silly if equipped with radios which have always worked fine up until now.

Does anyone know which bug treatment turns it into combustable material rather than killing it and making sludge?
Much prefer running it through and burning than having to remove it.

Our new boat neighbours showed me their new carpets from Rugz and Matz last week. Nice job and looked really good with proper whipped edges. Great price too.
I popped into their shop on Friday and they are coming to measure and quote over the next couple of weeks.

We have ongoing battery issues too. I had the system looked at this week, and the sparky found the new 24v anchor windlass wired to 12v in the battery bank.
This was fitted from scratch, new, by a very well known boat-builder based on the southern Broads, beginning with B.
Also, he found the switchgear and a fuse, installed and completely hidden, unbeknown to me, inside a bunk, needing the removal of the drawer and drawer frame to access it.
Not good.

Bacon is my downfall too. We have now changed to bacon medallions - the difference under the grill rack is enormous. Just a few drops of water, no fat at all.
Entering food on the free app 'My Fitness Pal' is quote sobering and enlightening at the same time!
Finally getting used to platefuls of mixed salad with balsamic vinegar and no olive oil.
Porridge for breakfast actually gets me through to lunchtime's soup (no bread).
I abandoned the gym a year ago as I kept paying the monthly fee and never went. The money from the gym subs went on a fully equipped gym in the garage, which I actually use instead of having to drive into Norwich every time.

There are different grades of Dual Lock - the difference being the number of 'mushrooms' per given area. The higher the number, the more difficult it is to get them undone.
