  1. I'm all for free speech and the ability to discuss without fear of repercussion, but surely people can only respond to what has been posted, not what didn't appear and was deleted?

I do agree the title is unduly harsh, and I hope the family concerned never find this thread or reference to it.  I know if the shoe was on the other foot and it was my family, I would be mortified to find this.

I also agree there are examples of how things could be done better, such as life jackets, towing etc, but it is their family video (and a good, well produced one) on their lovely holiday, which they apparently enjoyed.  And I don't agree with anyone being lambasted for speeding, lifejackets, posts on Breydon etc on this or any other thread.

It's just too public for my liking, and IN MY OPINION, "stupid" is a strong word.

  2. For 24v LEDs, I use Searolf.  The products are excellent, and the back-up service without fault.  Honourably changed a navigation light bulb two years out of warrantee, without being asked to.

I put warm white 24v LED strips in all the galley cupboard, from https://www.brightlightz.co.uk  I found them very helpful and able to answer queries.  Tip - order once and then use the 10% discount code which comes in the bag!

  3. There's always things to fix/repair/improve/adapt on any boat, so no worries there.

The fuel pump on both of my engines have leaked.  One was done a few years ago, the other now needs doing to.  It drips at the base and then fuel flows/creeps to settle at the bottom of the V near the gearbox end.  The other things that seem to go are the turbo gaskets.  Again, one done 4 years ago and one now needs doing.

I think they're lovely engines.  They chug away all day and all night without complaint.  You can recognise them a mile away when throttling up due to the cloud of smoke which calms down quickly.  Kind of like a squid disappearing behind a cloud of ink!

I think last night / this morning one must take the biscuit. Started his engine last night at 2100 and only shut it off at 2230 after a gentle reminder, this morning started at 0815 and was still running at 1230 on the bridge moorings at Wroxham.

    Doug.

I would love to have been a fly on the wall for the 'gentle reminder' :)
