"Liberty - I assume your question mark referring to the hydrographic survey, relates to the fact that you doubt whether one was done at all??"
No - just questioning whether it was the right word.
-
Yes, it is being shortened. I believe the hydrographic(?) models have shown a shortened structure will be as effective as the old, longer one.

I thought it was legal if rowed/paddled, and illegal if any other means of propulsion...

At least he knocked the siren on the head!

Completely agree Alan - it wakes the boat up.

"The key to navigating Great Yarmouth is to pass through at low slack water, then the current is low, clearance is the highest.
Simples"
I thought slack water was an hour(ish) after low tide and not lowest? If you need maximum clearance, this is at low, not slack water.
I was told there is 17' from mud to bridge, anyone know,if this is correct?

Ours is, I think, original so 40 years old. The installation certainly looks un-fiddled with. Decent sized compressor, air hose and twin trumpets. Just have to blast the spiders out now and again. Brilliant.
Yes, Mr Hireboat, you are coming towards me on the wrong side of a narrow river on full ebb, and I will let you know!

Great, thank you

Thank you for the views. The boat will be five minutes' walk (or two minutes' run with a cricket bat!) from home. There's nothing of value on board; I just don't want some little ****** causing damage to find out there's nothing worth nicking.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a boat alarm?

Used to really miss Marmite when living overseas.

I was going to reply that I haven't been to a bank for years; however...
The ladies at work go to the bank to pay in work cheques and cash, also to cash petty cash cheques.
So where will local businesses pay their takings in? Granted, usually card payment but still a fair amount of cash flying about, particularly in rural parts. Bit of a hassle to bank but no credit card charges.

And remember the back swings out when you turn, it's more like steering a forklift than a car. On ice.

Busy at Ludham Bridge. Hemsby Lifeboat led the way, no incidents within sight. Just one who was dripping, all others still dry!

Tom Gardiner at JPC Direct in Brundall. He fitted ours and great service. Recommended. Always helpful.

Is this the nice house before the big shed on the right a bit further up?
-
The right hand side?
-
Past the bridge towards Geldeston, on the left hand side near the lido?
