  1. EDIT ON MY POST 1st remove steering bolt on top of drive caphead bolt NOTE MOST VOLVOS USE IMPERIAL FIXINGS NOT METRIC sorry about mistake brain workin to fast for typin or a senior moment craig
  2. Hi I take it vp means volvo drives, changing drive bellows is easy enough but imo i would also change the exhaust aswell and check the water inlet nipple and rubber tube as well ,any corrosion in the nipple change it as they are prone to corrosion and can break or split so while the leg is off replace everthing at once make sure to check and poss note where the jubilee clips are positioned so the screw part does not rub the ajcent bellow or water pick up pipe. to remove the leg 1 remove access cover on the back of drive top screw normally the top screw just turn 90 degrees bottom one is a screw disconnect gear cable and pull out of drive note when replacing use new s/s split pin remove the keep bolts from the yolk undo all jubilee clips losen the bellows and water pick up tube, place support under the leg and gently drift out piviot pins you can drift these inwards a little heat might help here ? (it is a 2 man job to remove and replace leg unless your built like the preverble BSD ) a fexi jubilee clip driver helps easy access, when the leg is off remove bellows ect clean all faces drain leg oil (drain plug bottom of leg ) refill with 20/40 oil to level dipstick top of leg. Fill hole top righthand cap headscrew check oil level dip stick screwed in 2 replacing leg smear lightly inside of bellows with washing up liquid fit front clip and fix to transom noteing the clip position use new clips put clips onto the rear of bellow grease piviot pins lightly align the cv drive and refit the piviot pins note the indents for the keep bolts refit keep bolts connect up bellows ect to drive watch as somebody turns wheel lock to lock to make sure jubille clips are not rubbing against neighbouring bellows double check all fixings refit gear cable use a new split pin coat all gear piviots with a lib coating of waterproof crease lightly grease screws refit cover job done 3 anode replacement if the prop has a tab washer prize up the lugs place block under prop to prevent turning undo prop nut and remove NOTE some props have aline cutter behind them very sharp remove anode clean face and replace new anode use new tabwasher if fitted tighten prop nut and align tabwasher bend tabs into gooves on prop, bar anode remove clean face replacle with new JOB DONE and peace of mind hope this helps Craig
  3. Hi years ago I work for a company that manufactured poly urathene foams and pouring system they supply pu to most boat builders including princess yachts and fairline, broom to name just afew i recollet also years ago auqafibre the also hired one of the comanys pu injection m/cs.can uyou dill out a small sample of the substrate to see if it balsa or foam? I would not use foam unless you can be sure that the void between the deck and inner skin is BONEDRY as pu and water/moisture react as a blowing agent i.e expands more but less density. If its balsa you could still us foam as it will adhere to every thing it touches, personaly Iwould not use the builder type foam in a can as the strenth is not good in compresion you could use a pouring foam talk to technical at TRIDENT FOAMS LTD sorry have not got phone Nos any more but the are on the net based in NEWMILLS DERBYSHIRE just another idea injet with a large syringe grp resin mix into the cavirty if you go down the pu way or resin way dont for get you will need to have breather holes at the highest points to remove any trapped air hope this helps Craig

  6. SORRY GUYS RATIO SHOULD HAVE TYPED 100:1 NOT 50:1 BRAIN NOT IN GEAR
  7. Hi all I read an article on this some time ago in pbo the bods in the nkow seem to favour 2stroke oil added Iam trailing this at the moment at 50:1 ratio semi synthetic from halfords . At the end of the year the heads and injector pumps will be striped and inspected will post all results when i get them the only differance at the moment is significant less noise from injecter pumps and injecters measured with electronic stethoscope no extra smoke when warm. Being Ford diesals they make like a destroyer on start up (Ford 150 turbos) making smoke but allways have Craig

  11. It looks from the photo like a jabsco pump when you check the impeller also check the wearplate inside the pump behind the impeller and the pump coverplate any bad scoring will not help the suction inside the pump the wear plate on the inside can be removed by undoing the screw that holds the swashplate on the side of pump housing, jabsco do a full repair kits hope this helps. Also if raw water goes through an oilcooler check that its not blocked by back fushing the cooler craig
