  1. Friday was (hoooray) hairdressers and Jessica for her jab and then we, David, Jessica and I set off. The forecast was pretty dire and indeed, we got to Eastwood Whelpton to find the fleet confined to the yard for the night. Ohhh dear!! We had to go to the pub! Shame that. The White Horse at Upton was a treat, the meal provided was delicious and being back in this local pub most enjoyable. The weather was so bad we actually took the car instead of walking the short distance between yard and pub. Bootlegger is a classic Broads Sailing Cruiser four berth and gaff rigged, so suitable for experienced sailors. She is well turned out and sails beautifully. We were welcomed to the yard with a hot coffee and chocolate marshmallows, the on board gift bag contained local produce and small treats.

Norfolk forecast is wet and gusty. I think Holly would be happier at home this trip. Had it been sunny and light winds forecast, I would have gone for it. Disappointing, but the sailing itself should be lively. I can’t wait.
  3. I will be there Griff! Where did I put my catapult? 😋
  4. It’s machine embroidery Helen, so not more than a couple of hours. No to running stitch G. It’s all done by machine so an interlocking too and bottom thread straight stitch.
  5. I agree with the idea of working for the enjoyment of it. I sew stuff. Some jobs are quick others take many hours. Basically you make unique items and that is the pay back. This running pouch for phones was fun to make and it was even nicer to give. It does hang straight, it’s just the way I was holding it! 😋
  6. Steve, I was thinking of giving the jokes section a fresh start. Saves trawling through the back catalogue.
  7. Deleting the jokes thread gets my vote. Being a limited company is certainly an option but we, as a company, are still liable as editors and the Forum does not have the funding of, say, Private Eye or the Murdoch Empire to fight prosecution. Anyway. Timbo has been working behind the scenes for many months, so we can expect properly informed decisions in the near future.

Hi Puddleduck, thanks. Yes we are sailing. Cleo was not keen on that part of the adventure and took herself off into the ‘wine cooler’ we have under Brilliant’s saloon berths. Too much stamping about on the roof and creaking mast for her liking. She came out as soon as we stopped and was unconcerned. I have a large cat basket thing that fans out into a large secure bed. She can go in there for any bits we think need an extra layer of security. There is lots of room on Bootlegger, my only concern is not losing her.

Meet Holly. We are taking Bootlegger out for the May 22nd weekend. Dave Jessica and I will be aboard, but will Holly? Phill and I did take Cleo sailing once, she loved bits of it, but I was stressed in case we lost her. She will wear a harness and lead. Cleo had a small life jacket that she hated, I am not sure I kept it, but Whelptons have these for dogs in various sizes including Chihuahuas. Holly is happy in the car, very clever and intrepid, she could love the whole thing. I am really not sure...
  13. Oh dear, sorry to read that. We have had a long struggle with Brilliant, still ongoing.
  14. I am thinking of Flotex for the caravan, but am I the only one who hates the feel of it underfoot? I used a high traffic cheapie for Brilliant from Carpetright that was good on a boat, but agree that Axminster is the bees knees in non marine settings. Coming from Kidderminster and a family where carpet weaving goes back generations, I admit to a certain bias. 😊

    Bootlegger.

She is as like Brilliant as you can get in the hire fleet. I agree she is lovely. Phill and I took her out a year or two ago.

David, (Warp) Jessica and I plan to be sailing on the weekend of May 21st, we may have a cat 🐈‍⬛ aboard too.😳
  17. 🙄So I went to Indispension in Northampton this morning and they traced the fault. It was in my brain!! The towbar cap was a bit skewed and the sensor was picking it up. 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
  18. None in the handbook. I rang the garage, they said book it in....now that is a last resort because the ££££££ implications are a definite thing with that dealership.
  19. It’s a Skoda Octavia 2019 model. There are 4 rear parking sensors and one is bleeping red with nothing behind the car. I cleaned it with WD 40, even tried a hairdryer on it. This has come on since I jet washed the car last weekend. My brother suggested covering it with duck tape, and that has worked as a temporary fix. Any ideas for a more permanent solution? Help? 😘

    Economic Diesel..

I am a reluctant diesel driver. The compromise was because of the caravan, our petrol engine was not up to the job.
  21. If the boats add to access for people coming from the land, that has to be worth considering. If the NWT take the boat round to the centre mooring overnight, as they do normally then the Staithe mooring will be available overnight at least? Given that that corner is really vulnerable I'd want to move it away when not in use!
