  1. It's probably this: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/884171/FINAL_6.6637_CO_HMG_C19_Recovery_FINAL_110520_v2_WEB__1_.pdf
  2. Gives an insight into what to expect I suspect. https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/safety-on-our-waterways/coronavirus Update: Monday 11 May Last night the government announced the first steps in lifting restrictions on outdoor activities and is now allowing people to drive to spend time outdoors with members of the same household. Based on this decision, from Wednesday 13 May we are lifting restrictions on boat owners visiting their boats. At this stage general navigation still isn’t permitted and boats should only be used for minimal travel, for example for essential services or repairs. Where visiting, people should expect to return home the same day. We will be reviewing when we can restore navigation in light of the new government advice. In the meantime, mooring exemptions are extended by a further two weeks until Saturday 23 May. Following government advice, angling and canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding for exercise, can resume from Wednesday 13 May, but this must be on your own or with members of your household, and shouldn’t be for long distances as navigation is still restricted. In all instances, social distancing must be maintained at all times, keeping your distance from both other people and moored boats. Towpaths have remained open throughout the pandemic, with people required to observe social distancing rules and taking extra care on narrow sections. As more people return to work and are encouraged to avoid public transport, we could see an increase in the use of towpaths. Please keep moving, don’t congregate and stand aside to allow others to pass, using the full width of the towpath. Once again, keep your distance from other people and moored boats. If you are a cyclist, please be aware of our towpath code. Remember that pedestrians have priority, so always take it steady and be ready to slow down to give way to pedestrians. Consider using an alternative route away from the towpath for your exercise, especially as traffic on most roads is much reduced. Overall, our plea to everyone thinking of visiting our canals and river navigations is to be mindful of others and act always with consideration and respect.
  3. River chet (Somewhere!) is my best guess.. not been there for years though..
  4. Peter you are kinda falling in a certain trap here. If you keep saying it then it will be true... Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  5. 20 ICU beds in NNUH.. Nothings changed.. The virus is still there.. Stay home save lives..
  6. Sorry, I'm going to put my foot in it.. Just to maybe reduce the bashing, I must add the disclaimer .. - I feel for the industry and all those working in it and the economy affects... Here goes, Lets not forget the current status quo, we have a highly contagious disease that makes it potentially deadly to even stand within 2 meters of another human being. Sorry but air travel at the moment and likely for the next 12 months is a no goer until we may not die if we get within 2 feet of a human.. It's kinda tough at the moment but is what it is.. Sorry airlines and airports but that's the business you are in and have been in and earnt lots of money from.. If you can't make it safe for the next 12 months you need to adapt, run off savings or adapt. They can't screen for this without tests as facts are that you may have it even if you don't have a fever. I don't get what Heathrow airport are trying to achieve by saying social distancing isnt possible.. again it's kinda tough, if they can't run an airport safely then they can't run an airport, safety comes first.. not expecting the government to make a special exception. Surely everyone adapted during the war? Ok Rant over..
  7. Hence if you (or anyone) helps they must keep a social distance.. Kinda the most important advise being given.. and why you can't get close to your parents.. we may not know if we have it and it will only stop through transmission.. Not sure why people still aren't understanding this.
  8. Grendel without any doubt you can go and do this, shopping is essential and moreso if it's for vulnerable people. Obviously leave the shopping on the doorstep though and keep your distance from them to continue shielding them. If you are stopped by the police just be honest..the police don't know (and it wouldn't matter as you have transport) about your sister.
  9. why are they paddling through? are you not allowed to use engine power at all? The ones who sail up and drop the mast at the last moment, that's some skill and guts! I couldn't do that!!
  10. I never get how people still insure with this company, they have been "questionable" for many years. I doubt Tom @BroadsAuthority is able to advise regarding this individual company's cover but Tom if you can shed any light it maybe helpful for some, certainly as this company seem to have a base in the broads. OP..Just go with craftinsure.com. Underwritten by Zurich who was Navigators and general, you get the same level of cover as if you was direct with Nav and Gen who are one the best marine insurers around.
  11. We are doing the same model. Mostly on enders (My two are ender 3's the print farm has a number of different printers). We are doing 0.8 nozzle, 0.3 layer height, about 60mms, 3 walls, 0.8 wall thickness but it's the same rate 2 an hour each machine. Keep going nice to see more people printing!
  12. Excellent work :) where in the world are you supplying? What spares do you need??
  13. Hi Griff, Thanks for the message here, obviously understand its tough for many, but by staying at home though you are helping in immeasurable ways and that at the moment is the most important thing. Everything crossed the situation continues to improve and you are back on your feet soon.
  14. Time for another update. It's getting a little hard to work out the numbers. I've handed out I think about 1200 - 1300 visors myself and still going :) My friend simon in surrey now has 10+ printers I think and he's done about 7000. We think 3 others in the groups are at least about 1000 (and I think there's a couple more I don't now about helping in surrey) so as I group which I set up have handed out almost 10k visors. It may not sound alot but considering it's done with about £6k it's not bad and considering a larger national group of 800 people and £125k donations have handed out about 80k visors, so we are doing pretty well. I'm 100% certain that we now must have SAVED A LIVE. (Which is pretty cool to think about and the reason I started printing!!). We have reached (as far as I can track) As north as Liverpool, east into norfolk, south east into Kent, south west into Bournemouth and many thousands into London and home counties, we are still a key service for several NHS trusts. We are now helping lots and lots of care homes which is where the current front line in and there seems to be lots of care homes who still don't have access to these. All visors are given away free, to be honest I suspect the crowdfunding now WONT cover all of costs once we work it all out as we don't get the crowd funding money until the end of the run (which is another month), so there's lots of individuals savings and credit being used (It's pretty scary). Please though if you can dig deep, no ones going to stop anytime soon as these are so needed and even if we don't save more lives we are helping people feel safe and carry on being our heros and our life savers. Please support us: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/covid-19-visors/
  15. Done, I remember Banham zoo from our first holidays in norfolk back in the 90's and the Silverbirch canoes are amazing too (Chaps at boathouse all brilliant also), If I win also I'll sell off our current canoe and donate the money there also so double win ;) .. But meantime, I hope the little amount helps.
  16. I used to work for a company similar to ABTA called TTA, long time time ago though, these guys bond the independent agents, I was there a few years, it's was good fun! Sorry date of departure is the industry term, it's the first date of the holiday. Hence vaughans mention of thomas cook travellers arriving at hotels and not being paid (Although it's generally all electronically done), basically the hotel/accommodation supplier should be paid the day the traveller is due to arrive for accommodation. I would suspect this is the case for a boat yard too (although it maybe a little different due to 30 day credit etc etc). Regards to cash flow, many business normally have cash flow issues (robbing pete to pay paul), the TTA forces the agent to put money into a trust account so the money is guaranteed to be safe (and they can't release it easily - infact the accommodation provider is paid from there), ABTA or normal businesses aren't forced and can obviously do what they want with such funds so they may end up using "your booking money" to refund "Bob" and vice versa, making one heap of mess in terms of cash flows, but that's speculation, they maybe managing, they've been doing it long enough and yeah theoretically they should have money sitting there but I suspect they risk every booking being cancelled this year (considering most bookings for the year would have been placed by now ).. Typically in the travel industry accommodation only agents model can easily get into a mess (because it takes managing of cash flow, with the normal package holidays, money is passed down the line straight away and 10% commission is returned straight away, the booking is forgotten about and onto the next). Hope that helps insight a little more :) I do agree with Vaughan though is hoseasons needed in this day in age, probably not although they do still allow people to walk into a travel agents all over the world and book with a little yard in the middle of nowhere.
  17. Liveaboards are interesting. If you are on a non residential berth and the marina is closed it appears you aren't allowed access, That's what I've heard anyway, I suspect those like this have ventured onto the main rivers, or blind eyes are still practised and it's as normal, who knows but I'm sure they are living as close to normal as possible. The rangers will know also who's who and I'm sure are acting as humans. As we have a residential berth the marinas open as usual with the social distancing rules.. Although if I spot non residential owners in here they will be soon reminded where to go (but there's not many of them and you never seem them anyway)
  18. Vaughan, I believe its the government via it's advice not to travel and the state of emergency. Would be interested to see what clauses there are in booking t&c's for this.. Some may not have expected this, so it could be neglected.. I believe the travel industry have taken it on themselves to say "As goodwill, we will transfer or refund" but I suspect as money runs out it will get more interesting!
  19. Yes and no. Hoseasons may be having cash flow problems, so probably have little cash at present (but they should/maybe who knows getting support from the government).. But yes they will hold funds until the departure date of the holiday. So yes it has the potential to help their cash flow (obviously not helping the yard but they may have something in contract with the yard or goodwill gestures to help them but I doubt it and that wouldn't be how it would normally work). If the yards not taking bookings then sadly yes they will not be getting any funds, again hopefully being supported by any government schemes though.
  20. I used to work in the travel industry Kind of (maybe) an obvious heads up, I would be very very careful booking accommodation only at present as I believe it's not covered by any bonding/protection scheme (if they are part of it - Independent yards arent) and as such has no protection for failure: https://www.abta.com/tips-and-advice/is-my-holiday-protected. In fact I would go as far and say do not book any accommodation only! (I suspect Hoseasons will all operate under accommodation only, unless you throw something else in the booking to make it a package holiday like car hire). (Bit of boring history maybe, reason it isn't (It's all coming back now), is because the payment isn't paid until date of departure, so theoretically the funds shouldn't go walkies, but obviously in todays cash flow problem era it's probably spent before you give it). If you really want to still book, you must use a credit card although I wouldn't be surprised if they start to find a hole to squeeze out from certainly you booked this year. I suggest citizens advice regards trying to get a refund but I wouldn't be hopeful sadly as I suspect they don't have the money to give out. Would be sad to see them fail though and would be interesting to see the impact on the broads.. gulp. Don't be fooled by the ABTA badge certainly if you aren't booking a package holiday.
  21. I believe it's on date of departure or the last day of the holiday, but probably plus 30 days too.
  22. Craftinsure.com without any shadow of a doubt.. Massive claim with them.. Amazing throughout. Would never consider anyone else.
  23. No idea, but it's the least of the concerns at the moment. I'd hope it's closed and hope the marina owners will throw anyone off site that tries to access. Hopefully they are keeping an eye on the boat then again I hope they are Staying safe saving lives at home. The boats insured and if there's any problems with it and the insurance company can sort it out, thats what insurance is there for.. I disagree with the NYA at present, the country is still in "Lockdown" no one needs to go out looking at bits of plastic floating in a marina at this moment in time.
