  1. It sounds so good I think I will come and see you to buy a boat for the wife.
  2. Alan, I don't want to be a trouble maker but the first one I clicked on that I was interested in was Broadland Holiday Village and I got The Red Lion, Norwich. Looks a good site, plenty of hard work to put together. Sorry.
  3. BLIMEY, I have only been a simple salesman all my working life, now you are throwing all these lethal looking objects at me. I'm having a party on my boat, all ELECTRICIANS, BOAT BUILDERS AND BRAIN SURGEONS WELCOME. Must bring your tools with you!!!!!!!!!!!!! Date: after the 16th, I will bring my tools to help.
  4. Thanks bird, I have just bought one that has a sensor on it. I am going to fit this in the toilet compartment. Did you change the complete unit or just the fittings?
  5. Thank you all for your reply's. I have two 110ah leisure batteries, one 110ah starter battery and one 110ah battery for the Bow Thruster and Mud Weight electric winch. When on shore power they are charged on a professional charging system, Sterling I think. So when I go cruising I know that all batteries should be fully charged, then topped up from the alternator. Why I asked the original question was, obviously, after mooring for the night the batteries need recharging by running the engine. I understand that the general rule is 3 - 4 hours engine time to top up the batteries. Sometimes after mooring overnight we feel like an hours leisurely cruise is as far as we want to go and then moor up for the night again. My main concern then is how much power is left in the leisure batteries? Seeing a Battery condition gauge that showed the needle simply showing red, orange and green I thought this was my answer. But, by the replies you have kindly given I have dug myself a hole. After reading up about the NASA BM1 suggested by PALADIN I think this could be what I am after. One of the settings that shows battery level and predicted hours left at that consumption looks great. At my local chandlers they are £92.99 inc. vat.
  6. I have been looking at "battery condition gauges"to fit to my auxiliary batteries. Is it just a matter of connecting them to the battery terminals? Sounds too easy.
  7. WELL!!!! to me it has just happened. I have put the computer on this morning and BANG!!! an e-mail from Lotto telling me I have won. Today I have got to go and help my son dig out an old garage base. Has he got any tools? NO.(only mine) So I won't be buying a new boat or a boatyard, I am going to Homebase to spent my £25 on a new shovel.

Went north on Monday, back South on Wednesday evening 6.30. Good trip both ways.
  10. The end of the Rainbow looks like it straight into Jon's office.
  11. I have just received an e-mail from eBay asking me to renew my password. Has anybody else, is this a genuine request? Can I delete eBay off my files?
  12. Went under Wroxham twice on Tuesday, just under 7ft both times.
  13. Kadensa, don't let the worry of practising spoil your holiday. It sounds as if you have the determination and willpower, so you are halfway there. Take it slow, and if you do anything wrong you won't cause any damage. Have a good holiday and let us know how you got on.
  14. Alan, I had not seen "The Four Yorkshire Men". Just searched for it and it came up on U-tube "Yorkshire Men". Against those poor men John has got an easy life. Sorry John.
  15. Jon, if you got up earlier you would have plenty of time to do all these things.

    BREYDON BY BATHTUB

(Ours drains overboard and I did indeed do just this before I would venture across Breydon in an adverse sea-state!) Our drain hole is connected to a plastic pipe, I wonder if this drains out or goes into bilge? Will check. We have a cover, but it does not have windows in it.
  19. Having read John, Hockam Admiral's, recent post in "A few days on Friday Girl" about crossing breydon in bad weather it has raised a thought that has been on my mind. We have been over Breydon many times, good weather and bad weather. Our previous boats have all been closed in at the bow. We now have a Bounty 28 Bathtub with a large open bow well. What has been my concern is that as seen in John's photo the water is going right over the top of the boat. In a closed in boat the water runs straight off but with the Bathtub the water goes into the well. Can the bilge pump clear this water quick enough. I have seen that Friday Girl only has a small well and a cover that goes over and still leaves the windscreen clear, John did you have the cover on during this crossing? Any comments or experiences please.
  20. there is an old saying ...if yer can use a toilet, yer can paint ................................!!!!! The art is doing them both together.
  21. I've seen lots of Mole hills besides The Rivers, but never in them.
  22. Well, that looks like low tide so it will be approx 5.15 hrs later.
  23. After coming across Breydon I usually punch against the tide and moor at the top end of the old Marina and wait for the tide to turn. Also when coming North to South I wait there for the tide. I know it says "shallow water" but with a Bathtub it's been ok so far, famous last words.
  24. I never realised what a professional business you had until I saw your yard sign in the photo. You have an OFFICE very professional. A bar that sells BOA ALES which you have kept quiet about. And a TOILET which you must have with a bar.
