  1. And the veritable Pikeman per chance?
  2. Alan, Father Christmas is alive and well. P.S, Just pandering to Iain, all his fault, as usual!!
  3. Poppy, at least one large American religious group has re-written the Bible and another has even added its own 'book' to it. I spent over ten years working with two members of a major American religion, the one that knocks on the door just as you are sitting down to a meal or to a long drawn out visit to the 'little boy's room'. How I staved off being converted I really don't know! Dr P is not the only master of interpreting the established written word to suit his own demands and arguments.
  4. Thank you, Wooster, I'm ready for the off. Tendonitis is a real bugger, I have it in the knees. The only consolation being that going fishing is actually a relief, sitting on the bank chasing those roach suits me just fine!
  5. I remember Clive writing that he didn't like the new log in procedure and loss of instant access to new postings following the hosting upgrade.
  6. Sorry about that, Iain, but there is no Santa Claus!
  7. Thank you for the compliment. Not sure that sailing on Chichester Harbour, as lovely as it is, endorses me as being well traveled! By the way, that naughty big fish is not just one individual
  8. I can remember sailing clubs and boating magazines being asked to suggest suitable young members to play the parts. Didn't realize that that was the only criterior. Got a feeling that a young Horning lad was short listed
  9. A mildly interesting Broads link for the 1974 Swallows & Amazons film was that Swallow's young captain was a member of the Bosham Sailing Club down near Chichester. At that time yours truly worked for the Bosham Sea School & charter company. The young actor was a competent racing sailor but neither he nor any of the club members had a clue as how to rig a lug-sail dinghy. Someone mentioned, at the club, that lug sail dinghies were still as common as muck on the Broads and that I was a Broads sailor. I was duly summoned to appear, in person would you believe, to rig a Broads lugsail dinghy that was used for tuition by the club on behalf of the film company. Just thought you might like to know that!
  10. Plenty on E-Bay at this very moment in time.
  11. For all that, Grendel, I reckon that 'Titty' is far, far more attractive than 'Tatty'
  12. And these get a zero: http://www.edp24.co.uk/features/revealed_how_clean_is_your_favourite_restaurant_in_norfolk_and_waveney_1_4576963
  13. Now't wrong with the game as such but footy certainly brings the worst out in some people, even when the Russians aren't about! http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/crime/30_people_in_mass_brawl_outside_hemsby_pub_during_england_v_russia_game_1_4576713?utm_medium=email&utm_source=eshot&utm_campaign=newsletterlink Whoops, see Tangara had already found this one! Have to blame it on the incomers
  14. Speculation of course but I don't see Barnes allowing itself to be taken over, indeed if Woods were to move I could see Barnes as a very likely contender.
  15. http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/hundreds_enjoy_steam_day_at_norfolk_s_museum_of_the_broads_1_4573917 Didn't know anything about this otherwise would have made the effort to go. Something fascinating about steam, whether in a boat or on wheels. As a kid I always relished a Mammod steam engine in a boat, as it was I had to be content with an O guage steam engine.
  16. Shame. Perhaps we could turn the clock back an hour?
  17. Titty becomes Tatty, who in their right mind could come up with that one? Surely Titty would have grown up to be Totty?
  18. Alcohol and regressive breeding, the knuckles are getting nearer and nearer the pavement with each generation. The only exception being with Norwich City supporters!
  19. Blinking 'eck, Poppy, fans would be reacting for months on end if they were to have a go over all the lies from certain unmentionable political leaders in regard to that forthcoming event of great national importance!
  20. Perhaps the Russian & French 'chav's did wind up the English fans but the English reacted as they did, they didn't have to.
  21. Pictures of In-ger-land supporters' disgraceful behaviour in France is really putting me off football!
  22. We have had pleasant, warm evenings and nights recently. Mustn't jump to conclusions either way but like Vaughan I remain sceptical.
  23. Many years ago I was involved in boarding a possible casualty. On entering we found a tableau, a snap-shot including one man still holding his hand of cards. We then found all the windows had screwed up toilet roll and newspaper stuffed into the vents and anywhere a draught might have found its way into the boat, the whole thing was hermetically sealed. A tragedy that could have been avoided, a tragedy that so obviously just crept up unnoticed on the victims. Be aware of the dangers and consequences.
  24. NDR planners are undoubtedly in a league above those of the BA.
  25. The above, folks, is entirely true, further illustrating that the Authority and its planning department have completely lost the plot. I'm just surprised that a colony of those incredibly rare newts haven't reared their heads yet.
