Not very well, I would think. I've got relatives in those areas
I was born in North Allerton. I also won the North Allerton best baby competition. Were you there?

I don't know if this route has been explored, but the BA are allowed to use the term "Broads National Park" for marketing.
Are official road signs allowed to carry marketing signs ?
Tell me? What exactly is the BA marketing? The attributes of a National Park? Or their understanding that the Broads is a National Park.
And why?
Nearly forgot the last bit . Advertising on a road sign, in Norfolk. Why. They are here. They presumably know that. They know why they have come and why. Advertise in Leeds, North Allerton. That's where you need to do your marketing (let us know how you get on)

How many of these signs do they intend to put up? And where? Does anybody know?
Does the BA intend to put them up elsewhere perhaps. On the riverside?
Eh Oop! You're here. Int National Park.....by gum!

Old Frank is not a member but I do spot dear old Grunts and Mardler now and again. As for Tree Hugger, occasionally see him shuffling around the boat yard or propped up in the boozer but not online.
Empty tables, empty chairs. In their time they made a wonderful and constructive contribution to many and to their understanding and appreciation of the Broads and its political shenanigans.
They are sadly missed.

If that's unbelievable, how about the £16,320.84 they paid to Norfolk CC for their BNP signs.
Both sums were placed in the "Conservation of Cultural Heritage" category in the accounts.
Thank you Mr P
A concern. An uncertainty.

But that doesn't explain why the BA paid Suffolk Highways £10,046.02 for BNP road signs in February 2019.
Mr P
That is an unbelievable sum of money. I'm serious. How can they justify that amount of money. What does it achieve?
Mission Creep. In it's most sinister form.
Have I been betrayed, am I being betrayed. I am and old codger, a curmudgeon , sometimes my befuddled mind is unable to identify that which is reasonable in this day and age.
I don't need guidance from you guys I am too old for that. But what I do need is a reassurance that you will put in place a standard, disciplines, that protects the generation that will follow us and The Broads in particular from those who seek change to achieve a personal ambition.

As you will all know, I've always said the BA should be an elected authority.
Now. Tell me pray. Who would you elect to be on this authority?
The RSPB . Perhaps the Ramblers. Anglers . Boat yard owners. Would they agree with you. Who would you pick. Who would you trust. Tell me, who would YOU CHOOSE.
It is working at the moment. There is a degree of transparency which holds the authority to account by virtue those who question their every move. Members of this forum.
Long may it continue. Long may we continue to uphold our principles, our beliefs, our standards and our aspirations.
Encourage thier criticism, thier dedication towards thier vision for the future they will leave behind for the next generation.
Every year I visit different parts of the Broads. From Hickling to Horsey, Ranworth to Coltishall, Thorpe St Andrew to Beccles.
Yes I see things to criticise but in general I see a well managed Broadland Park.
Long may it continue and long may this forum continue to value our heritage and our members who embrace this principle which we protect with an undeniable passion..

no criticism of the forum or it's administrators was inferred only that Iain left a hole and his presence is still missed.

May I join you with your sincere tribute to Iain. My comment was not meant in any way to infer any criticism whatsoever. I would be mortified if you in particular thought otherwise.
Empty tables, empty chairs. Iain was a friend so many of us never met.

My strongest memory of IaIn is of his lovely, gentle, sense of humour. The forum has been a poorer place without his presence, I still miss him enormously as, I'm sure, do many others on here. To be held in such high regard by others, many of whom, myself included, never even met him says such a lot about the man.
Carole
Carole. I have to say the forum has not been a poorer place without his presence. It has grown in strength beyond our imagination because of his contribution, his integrity, the standard he left behind for others to follow. Thankfully his influence has become a bench mark for other forums to follow, and our present administration is the leader in this respect. Others have fallen short. We must thank him and remember him for the legacy he left behind for us all.

Old Shuck has been seen there many times by the locals. Few locals visit after dusk.
I visited once looking for a wall. There is one. I feared. I feared for them holiday folk. I dare'nt sit on that wall. Not after dusk.

I don't no why but I wanted to meet him so much. On his last visit to the Norfolk Broads I tried to follow him. But to no avail. I followed him by car from mooring to mooring. Finally to his home port. He was not well. I arrived at the boat yard...........but he had gone home. I had missed him by seconds.

The Power of the Dog
THERE is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear. When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet's unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find - it's your own affair, -
But ... you've given your heart to a dog to tear. When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!),
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone - wherever it goes - for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear! We've sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent,
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we've kept 'em, the more do we grieve;
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long -
So why in - Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?Rudyard Ķipling

Perhaps you misread my post which was not hearsay, not a second or third hand account but something which happened to me. Perhaps you didn't misread the post and it was your intention to question my integrity. Just for clarity some of the order summaries are attached. If you use Amazon I would keep my eyes open
Why would I wish to question your integrity? What motive would I possibly have.
I do not know you. I have never met you. I do feel at this moment in time that I do not wish to meet you.
I am quite amazed at your cavalier attitude.
However, i would like to think on a wall , on a village green, on a mooring somewhere we would perhaps enjoy a civilised meeting over a pint or whatever and enjoy our mutual company without this anamosity.
Regards
Andrew

I'm usually quite savvy about these matters, however in my defence the call couldn't have come at a better time for the scammer, that very morning I had received a delivery from Amazon that was bound in "Prime" tape which made me wonder if they had put me back in it again without my knowledge. This was apparently an error on their part and the tape shouldn't have been used. Apparently Amazon never phone clients which I didn't know - I do now and won't be fooled again.

No harm done Carole to post your concern, in fact to the good. Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention. There is a generation out there whose vunlerability can and does change as they get older. Indeed can be seen on a daily basis. Confusion can also be recognised even by ourselves as being evident as part of our own individual behaviour.
Many of us, myself included, are part of that generation and so are those, our parents who are most at risk from those who consider our loved ones a suitable prey.
More should be done, more could be done, against those who consider their misguided behaviour acceptable with regard to the majority of our law abiding society.

I have used Amazon for years. Never had a problem. Family use it all the time. Never had a problem. Surely an issue such as you have described would have been mentioned in the media before now with quite devastating repercussions for the company concerned.

That is a very good point.
I still notice, however, that you are seeing lots of them on Hickling, but they seem to have disappeared from elsewhere on the Broads.
Could that be because otters don't live in reed-beds? Just a thought. . . . .
One day in February of this year I counted over 100 Coot on Malthouse broad. A large raft of them in the middle of the broad. The following day they had gone. Old Putty Nose can be elusive when he wants to be.
By the way, never seen an Otter on Malthouse, or indeed heard of any. That doesn't mean to say that they are not about.

Amazing Chris. That would suggest to me that nearly 100 countries who recognise the National Park brand as defined by the International Union, and conform to its restrictions and modus operandi might be forgiven in trying to compete against this Broads National Park and saying .............Who?
They might also question why they are competing against a National Park that isn't.
