  1. You are absolutely right Siddy. It is those people who decide to push in at the very last minute who cause the delays in the left hand lane. The roundabout is normally clear. To avoid the queues in the right hand lane, keep left, at roundabout 4th exit. Over bridge. First exit at roundabout. First right to Postwick. Keep left to Brundall. Then to Strumpshaw. Then to Lingwood. Then to Cantley Rd Junction. Turn left. 2 miles turn right to Acle.
  2. Postwick hub not good at lunchtime. Still long queues this afternoon. Had to use plan "B" Old Wussername
  3. Its not kilt wearing weather then Iain?
  4. A posting on FB states that Breydon has been closed to hire boats until further notice due to high winds.
  5. Spirits are elusive. SOB seems to be no exception. Here in Norfolk it is starting to blow. I think that tomorrow i might feel a reef coming on! And that's in the burgee!
  6. According to a contribution on Face Book by the Grt Yarmouth and Gorleston RNLI a cruiser ran aground on Breydon in appalling conditions. They had to be pulled off by the ILB and escorted to safety in gale force winds and very limited visibility. But where was the Spirit of Breydon. It did not get a mention. Old Wussername
  7. Hi Jo. MAny thanks for your continued support. Please find attached screenshot. The tab on the right hand side showing "other options" only allows you to add files. Regards Old Wussername
  8. Thanks for your reply JO. I am not using Tap Talk. I'm conversant with word but no sign on my tablet to change font to italics or bold! Look forward to your reply. Every little helps
  9. Thanks for your offer of help JO. It is a tablet. A hudl.
  10. How can I spruce up my post like that wot them others do? A bit of bold would be good, some italics would be great.Bold italics would send me into a dither. And what about a smiley. I will try one and see if it works. Here it is
  11. I often see them flying over Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft east bound. They have a distinctive kink on the starboard contrail. Could well be USA C5 Galaxy or C17 Globemaster. They would be up at around 35000ft and well clear of the commercial traffic keeping clear of the well defined routes. Some 100 miles out they turn to starboard. Outward or homeward bound they fly directly over the top of my house. Westbound, possibly 100miles from Strumpshaw, Brundall they will turn to port. The other week one had a fighter escort under each wing.
  12. Is the Bridge sinking? Across the bridge is a mettalic road. Connected on both sides of the bridge to the bank. From each bank there is a continuation of the mettalic road. As far as I'm aware mettalic roads are not very flexible, and if they are I would not have thought that the road surface would be flexible enough to compensate for any significant sinking of the bridge. I would therefore expect to see, as the bridge sinks, regular maintenance on each side of the bridge to repair the gap between the static, stable road and that which is effected by the sinking bridge. Is anyone aware that this has happened in the past or during the last few years? If this is an occurring event, then yes, the bridge is sinking. If not, perhaps other factors need to be taken into consideration.
  13. If you hire from HW a member of their staff will take you through. If it is a bit tight they might well refuse. However, you have the option of the service of the bridge pilot who might be willing to take you through.
  14. I hate pre -emptive text! Buckling should read Hickling. Whatever made it do that!!
  15. Good news perhaps for those who wish to explore the delights of the upper reaches of the Thurne, Buckling, Horsey. HW will be increasing their picnic boat fleet from 2 to 5. Equipped with kitchen and toilet. Could well appeal to the holiday maker and private boater alike.
  16. .............and finally, in Norfolk, please remember: It is number two That forms the queue.
  17. Where there's a bridge there's a way! JM. I am sure that you would get Jenny Morgan into the centre of Norwich.

  19. Spider. It was not a criticism and neither was it meant to be. It was purely a light hearted comment using the Women's Own as I hoped an amusing example. If you note I did state that I was mindful of the need not to publish some matters in the public domain. Your request, Paladines reply, was in my opinion correct.
  20. Don't you just love it when the flow of the thread, the disruption of the very core of a discussion, which is what forums are all about, is disrupted, by " I will pm you" When I was a teenager my mother had the Women's Own. The last page was always devoted to the agony aunt. From the contributers, and indeed the agony aunt herself I learnt many things. Some, very informative to a 13 year old. I became quite knowledgeable. Until, at the very end she would write: Dear worried from Birmingham. Please contact me and if you wish I will reply in a plain brown envelope. WHAT THE.....WAS THAT ALL ABOUT?? I did learn a little more when my daughter subscribed to Cosmopolitan. Old Wussername PS in conclusion, I am mindful that some things are better left out of the public domain. For the time being anyway.
  21. I agree Matt. No defence really. However if you were driving at 45 in a 30 in think that you would be aware. 4 to 6, dunno! Depends on experience I suppose. Old Wussername.
  22. http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/pensioner_fined_for_speeding_on_the_norfolk_broads_at_6mph_1_3943864 One of the few occasions where someone who has flouted the regulations has been named and shamed. A good or a bad step? A bit harsh.....two miles over the limit? Well deserved? Are we able to calculate our speed so accurately? Would we be wise to invest in GPS to avoid prosecution. Old Wussername.
  23. I am but a Norfolk boy. Normal for Norfolk is phrase often used. That will be me then! I have several GCE. I failed every one. I don't think I even got the date right on any of the papers. I have avoided contributing to this very important thread because of a feeling, a belief, of insecurity amongst people who are articulate, knowledgeable, well versed in debate. However there is one very important point in my view, I would like to bring to your attention: A legal claim can centre on an allegation of passing off, which is legally defined as “making some false representation likely to induce a person to believe that the goods or services are those of another”. We are not a National Park It is a false representation. We do not provide the services of a National Park. Neither do we wish too. Therefore it would seem to me that some people are using their position as a vehicle for personal enhancement, to pursue an agenda which is unacceptable to the those who understand the implication of these matters. It would seem to my simple mind that the term National Park is illegal Regretfully, the vast number of Norfolk folk, the majority of Norfolk folk, who do not understand, have very little interest. Normal for Norfolk. Until of course the realisation of their ignorance becomes apparent in the fullness of time. Is there any individual, anybody, any organisation able to have the finances, the will, to challenge this injustice. I fear not. There are some who trawl through past statements, commitments, and quote the most emotive of intent. It is to no avail. We have an obligation. Our generation have a duty to our children, our grandchildren. If we do nothing we will have been deemed to have failed. No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path. Tootle pip Old Wussername
