  1. Cheers Peter I didn't know that! Every day is a school day! 😉👍
  2. It definitely is a battery issue If I run the engine the webasto works perfect The batteries sit on around 14.50 volts until you use something and it quickly drops to around 12.50 volts Drop to below that and the webasto cuts out It seems as though the domestics aren't holding charge as they start to drop as soon as you turn the engine off and when it gets below 12 volts the webasto cuts out It's happened 3 times up to now and we have started conserving battery so the heater lasts longer I didn't even know that the heater used battery...but it obviously does!! We travelled from Horning to St Olaves today so it should be well charged and when we moored around 3.30pm it was displaying 14.55 volts and now we have the heater on, and the volts are showing 12.62 and dropping... 🙈
  3. We haven't had one evening on an electric post yet Every evening has been with the webasto heater providing the warmth (Which has been a bit hit and miss! as the bugger likes to cut out every now and then!) Tomorrow though we plan to head to Beccles and we will be plugging in!!
  4. Today was a challenge! I set my alarm for 7am, in case I overslept as we planned to go back south today and I wanted plenty time to walk the dogs prior to setting off... It didn't go to plan though as we got up and noted the windscreen was completely covered in snow I went outside to take a look and there was no way (without deep wellies) we would be taking our dogs through the beer garden at the New Inn this morning as it was completely flooded Quick change of plan, as I brushed off the snow, cleaned the windows as best I could, switched on the nav lights and off we set towards Ranworth again We had a look at Cockshoot moorings but they were overtopping also so headed to Ranworth where we successfully moored in our usual spot and were able to take 2 crossed legged dogs for their morning stroll We then set off heading south on a day that brought snow, hail stones, rain and bright sunshine! We had black skies, grey skies and blue skies We came over Breydon around 1pm and are now sat in the Bell Inn St Olaves with our dogs at our feet and a nice pint in hand We didn't plan a pub crawl, but it's just nice to sit in the comfort of a welcoming pub in winter, with a roaring fire, doggy treats and water bowl provided Another pub we haven't visited for over 15 years and the experience is such that we won't be waiting 15 years for our next visit The only slight issue is we note the moorings appear to also have overtopped recently!
  5. Yes very busy Between 20 and 30 customers inside, with the majority having meals. Definitely not holiday trade..these are locals and good on them for attracting the locals, because they are the foundations of your business
  6. Roxy and Yogi got lots of attention in the New Inn We had one slight issue though when returning to the boat! We needed our wellies! It was slightly wet! The joys of winter boating! Lots of beach towels needed...not for the beach, but to dry wet paws! We are safely back on board and chilling!!
  7. It's been a tad breezy that's for sure, although we moored at Potter Heigham without issue and likewise Ranworth and the New Inn, Horning albeit I have moored side on at the New Inn as we are the only boat here Before we left Ranworth we were joined by Thunder. We met friends in the New Inn and Fred and I had gammon, whilst Lisa had salmon and Julie went for the Tika Masala An absolutely brilliant evening which was made even better as for the first time ever Roxy and Yogi could join us in the New Inn I recall one December evening sat on the decking freezing with our dogs at the back of the New Inn with one customer sat at the bar and a refusal to let us come inside That night we moved on to the Swan Tonight the New Inn is busy, vibrant and we will definitely be back
  8. I know.. But as a retired cop I am used to following rules... 👮‍♂️🤣
  9. Woke up at 5am due to strong gusting winds and horrendous bow slap, so got up and took the dogs out It was a bit breezy this morning, so we made our way up the Thurne for a spot of shopping at Latham's Julie bought a Christmas light display in the shape of a Reindeer!! No doubt, another thing I will have to wire up when we get home! We have just stopped for a break at Ranworth and I must admit I was all in a tizzz.. I didn't know where to moor! Decisions, decisions! I eventually went for my usual spot down the side! I have never seen Ranworth completely empty before I actually miss the liveaboards which alternated between here and Horning
  10. I think we all had our wires crossed there! But yes, that's what I was referring to Thanks for clarifying
  11. It states "no mooring" Yacht station closed
  12. Yep Fully open and functioning as you would expect
  13. We took the dogs for a walk and then made our way up to the King's Arms at Ludham for a quick refreshment It's a great pub, which is dog friendly and very welcoming with excellent food and if you enjoy music and sport, lots of both available! We then made our way back to the boat and prepared our evening meal of spaghetti Bolognese and garlic bread whilst watching the one show The heater isn't on, because it's so mild at the moment and no doubt it will change but Julie and I are really impressed how warm and cosy Moonlight Shadow is in winter, whether you have the heating on or not Tomorrow we have booked a mooring and a table at the New Inn, Horning so will be eating out and it's the first visit under new ownership and...with our pooches with us, as they now allow dogs inside! 👍👏👏 I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but for us, it's a huge tick in the box, and we can't wait to see how the evening unfolds As a bonus, some friends of ours who live in Little Plumstead (near Salhouse broad) and we don't see that often, are meeting us at the New Inn, so tomorrow evening should be a special one
  14. Today we set off around 10am for our journey to the Northern Broads We had a really relaxed journey across Breydon The yellow post was passed and we started the route up the Bure As we passed the Acle Bridge Inn, the temptation to stop was resisted and we continued up river We saw 6 boats heading in the opposite direction during our journey but generally the rivers were very quiet This was silver cloud who we passed as they headed South between Acle and the Thurne mouth We went up the Thurne and turned off towards Hunters Yard and noted for the first time Womack Dyke was empty! Could we get in at Womack? Of course as we were the only visitor Apart from a little blue smart car with a couple of occupants watching the world go by A long but enjoyable trip
  15. Great tip Malcolm Now successfully downloaded!
  16. Cheers Smoggy I use it as a guide only and it's rarely let me down Just getting ready to leave Reedham, as we are going to go north today and have a couple of days whilst it is quiet and before the navigation through GY is closed
  17. For those who use the Aweigh App High tide was around 6.30pm on Monday 29th November and the Aweigh App displayed 1.54 metres which I assumed was low enough for the water not to overtop the quay heading and this morning high tide was around 7.30am and the Aweigh App displayed 1.60 metres I can confirm that it did not overtop the quay this morning and had about an inch and half to spare Hopefully this will give people a benchmark when visiting Reedham in the future Over the next week or so the Aweigh App is displaying 1.66, 1.70, 1.84 and 1.89 metres so it is likely to overtop and needs to be a consideration when mooring, particularly in winter
  18. Definitely We have just been on a walk with Roxy and Yogi who forced us into the Ship for one of the gravy bones behind the bar... So we had to have a drink also! 😂
  19. You need to wrap up, but it's quite mild with little wind at the moment so very pleasant indeed
  20. This time we made it! But not without more mishaps.. Stopped in a traffic queue on the A1 just after leaving the M62 and "bang" as we are rammed from behind.... 🙈🙈 I immediately got out and the woman in the offending car was shaking like a life! The front end of her Ford Focus looked a bit of a mess and although my old Range Rover has a few more dents, the boot still opens and the dogs and Julie and I were fine, so we swapped details and I told the woman not to worry..it's only a piece of metal on wheels and after making sure everyone was ok, we set off again, although Julie did ask whether we should just go home! But on arrival the mood changed within seconds and that's why we love visiting Norfolk. Huge thanks also to our fellow syndicate members who left me a few beers.... (I think they are for me! 🤞😉) And Julie some flowers! Moonlight Shadow was in great condition and the weather was glorious We left our mooring and headed down river towards Reedham and you could feel the stresses and strains of the past few days ebb away..
  21. Cheers Malcolm It was that bad, it was actually frightening as I was getting concerned for the Mrs and the dogs and I was just glad to get home Just about defrosted, so will give it a second try on Monday
  22. John, Hopefully the roads will be clear. The M62 is back open and my son drove to York this afternoon across the Pennines as he was refereeing York City in the FA trophy and got there OK. It was just "a perfect storm" this morning which made travelling East impossible. My advice is to stay to the main roads and if need be take plenty breaks Safe journey
  23. Thanks Helen Yes we are on her for a fortnight and plan to set off early Monday so should be with MS well before lunch for a good first full day We still hope to go north as the tides are favourable, but it's no huge issue if we are unable
  24. Well today we head back to Norfolk..... Ok.. We tried and failed! Got up this morning to be informed the M62 was shut over the Pennines "Google" said head towards Hyde and across to Sheffield and cut out the M62 joining the A1 around Sheffield/Barnsley area So we set off at 7am, it was a bit breezy, but otherwise fine until we got on the A roads to cross the Pennines Informed Woodhead and Snake pass closed and then we came to a standstill as traffic chaos ensued! Trucks and cars everywhere struggling to move "Google" then said turn left and head over the Old Road... I need to stop listening to "Google" This was what the road looked like as we climbed So as soon as we got to a suitable turning area we spun round and started the journey back home A guy in a BMW 4x4 you can see in the picture had flown into Manchester from Saudi Arabia this morning and was trying to get home, but also turned round and will now look for a stop off point before trying to get home in Yorkshire Our Newfies Roxy and Yogi are very confused, but we are back home now and will give it another try on Monday Stay safe everyone
