  1. Day 10 A visit to Charlestown, Mutton Cove and then onto the park and ride we were staying overnight at in Plymouth. This was the only night we had a really bad nights sleep with boy racers in the car park pretty much all night. Which was a shame as it was a really handy location.
  2. Day 9 On the move again. We were looking forward to this stopover at Mevagissey. We knew that we could not miss the entrance to the car park we were staying in though or we would be in a whole world of trouble with the tight narrow streets around the harbour.
  3. Day 8 An unexpected day off moving the van today. We jumped on the bus to Falmouth which in itself was a white knuckle ride!!
  4. Day 7 Another funny weather day. It started alright for a visit to Marazion but quickly descended into a wild, windy and wet day. We had a very quick visit to Lizard Point before heading to a campsite to seek shelter. We were not booked on until tomorrow but they had space for an extra night.
  5. Day 6 Today we were heading further West to Lands End. We called in at St Ives on the way past. A campsite tonight. Lands End Camping and Glamping just a short walk from Lands End.
  6. Day 5 The weather was much better today. The roads no so much. We did actually get stuck on a lane that was not wide enough this day. A long reverse back up a windy hill to find somewhere to turn around and we were soon back on track again and heading for Perranporth. A Texaco petrol station car park was our overnight stop tonight. We go to all the best places We had a good laugh about our predicament over a few beers :) And found an excellent Indian takeout. Definitely on the list again for the next visit to this neck of the woods.
  7. Day 4 A real wet day today and a bit of a waste of a destination as we didn't really see much it was so wet. Tintagel was the destination. We did make it to the pub at the car park entrance but really that was all we saw of what I am sure is a very nice place. The walk to the castle will have to wait for our next visit.
  8. Day 3 Further along the North coast to Appledore. More tight roads and another windy and exposed parking spot. We resorted to winding down the rear corner steadies and had a much better nights sleep.
  9. Day 2 Our destination for today was to be Watermouth Bay near Ilfracombe. We were on a site for the night with a cracking view from atop the cliffs. The wind got up in the night and it wasn't the best night's sleep but we were not as disturbed as the people camping in tents further up the hill!!
  10. We have recently enjoyed a couple of weeks on the Devon and Cornwall coast with the van. The weather was a bit hit and miss at times but on the whole for the time of year it was a cracking 16 days away. Day 1 The long drive from Worksop to Watchett. We were lucky to get parked in one of the two designated motorhome parking bays. Plenty of other vans turned up after we got parked and had to go and find alternative parking.
  11. Funnily enough we were looking at these day boats at the weekend. They are something that we could well consider to keep in the garage at home and tow around as we want it. They are not as expensive as they look. The yard will certainly recoup their purchase price very quickly at those hire rates! https://tingdeneboating.com/new-boats-for-sale/maxima/620-retro
  12. Just up the road from us. We often take the dog for a walk there.
  13. 24 degrees here this morning. Isn't forecast to get much hotter today so hoping that the house cools of a little while we are at work. It was still 31 in the bedroom and 30 in the kitchen this morning which wasn't pleasant.
  14. They are forecasting that it could well hit 42 in Worksop before 5pm!! It looks set to cool down a lot quicker overnight tonight though. Will be down to 20 degrees by morning which will feel cold after today!!
  15. The car and garden thermometer were both reading 37 degrees here in sunny Worksop yesterday evening at about 6pm when we got home from work. The house was hot hot hot. 31 degrees in our bedroom last night not much cooler this morning. Back in Sheffield now at work and half an hour ago the car reckoned it was 26 degrees already. It was unbearable in this office yesterday so not sure how we are going to go on with it being another 5 or so degrees hotter today. Think Worksop is forecast to be one of the hottest places today. Deep Joy!!
  16. Make sure you put plenty of sun cream on!
  17. We are hoping to get down that way in the van next summer. Never made it by boat.
  18. The weather was amazing. Really made the trip. Glad we have come back before it has got really hot though. It was nice to be able to get out and about without it being too hot for the dog.
  19. It definitely is. We both said that if we were to get back into boat ownership again then it would be a Corvette 32 or 320 that we would buy. Absolutely love them. They pack such a lot into a small boat.
  20. We have not bought it to leave it sat on the drive
  21. Day 8 Pretty uneventful day really. We had a two hour drive home in light traffic, unpacked the van and got the weeks worth of washing washed, line dried and put away. A jerk pork rotisserie on the BBQ finished off what has been a brilliant holiday.
  22. Day 7 Back onto the mainland today. We had just enough time to visit Quarr Abbey before heading to the ferry terminal. We will certainly visit here again the farm shop is amazing. It was a lovely smooth ferry crossing and then we had a two hour drive up to Chipping Norton CCC site which is right next door to Jeremy Clarksons farm shop Diddly Squat. So of course we had to call in.
  23. Day 6 Our last night on the island. We called into Ryde on our way to our last stopover at Waverley Park in East Cowes.
  24. Day 5 Back to the Needles to explore the old and new battery. The bus ride up there is utterly terrifying! Our stopover tonight was The Folly Inn on the banks of the River Medina.
  25. Day 5 Southland to Blackgang Viewpoint to Compton Beach where we went hunting for dinosaur footprints and finally onto Fort Victoria for another lovely night there.
