    Dog Ban?

It’s not a dog ban that should be implemented it’s a irresponsible owner ban, I have two working labs which I walk twice a day and when we are near wildlife or live stock there on leads to many owners think they can let dogs off where they like they CANNOT!

    Boat Search

Just a bit of fun, I’m trying to find out if anybody knows or themselves hired the old golden girl from summercraft not the grp ones they bought in the 80’s the aft cockpit one, my great uncle used to hire her but I’m struggling to find any pictures at home and web searches haven’t brought any to light! Any one?
  4. There is no easy way, various grits down to smooth (without sanding the decks away🤣) have plenty of tack clothes and some relaxing music
  5. I got a new 13kg bottle plus returned one for exchange £29 each £39 for bottle
  6. My dads was no.2 L95 so many happy memories
  7. Great boats the Hampton, Tony and pat was very good friends with my uncle they had a fleet of them at sutton all called honeymooners my dad had one off him many happy years of two week holidays one week holidays countless weekends all year round usability we had 4 people and a dog never seemed to small it had 1.5 bmc which in 11 years only had 1 fuel pump and dad serviced it annually it’s still on the broads now called ‘Kate’ I believe the last time I see it it still had the curtains my mum made on it 🤣🤣
  8. I remember this in the eighties
  9. I’ve seen on another social that there will be a charge to drop your weight on malthouse broad and salhouse next season, they used to charge on salhouse and we used to pay it but I was told by to boat yard owners if your on your weight they haven’t really got rite to ask you to pay if this is the case it’s two more places I won’t moor, i stress I have no problem at all in being charged for mooring with facilities but for swinging on your mud weight I’m not sure it’s worth it think I’d rather wild moor I’ll probably get shouted down now but when you pay the river license to ba and there reducing there services/facilities it’s the usual private owner frustration!!
  10. Probably missed my point I never meant to make bmc I got hybrid I meant replace but really appreciate the input👍
  11. I personally think standards slipped when sue and Brian separated Brian being the boat builder but sue worked just as hard I can remember when her dad had the garage where Norfolk marine are now she worked there and was cleaning at summercraft before Brian had financial interest in the yard very often she would be cleaning ovens down on the service key due to sloppy customers I do hope they have a long happy retirement once they do pack up completely
  12. In a bit of a dilemma, there’s a 1.5 bmc on my alpha 32 and ive done the usual looking at new engine packages but I love the bmc but also appreciate we may have to go hybrid in a few years so I’m tempted to have the bmc rebuilt any one else had similar thoughts, I really wanted to keep this boat simple as a promise was made to my late dad but he knew what I’m like with boats
  13. On a lighter note re customer service! My late father told me once he was in the office at brooms (in the 60’s) when a customer having a boat built was pushing for the final build cost of his boat when as quick as a flash broom(Martin I think, I may be wrong there) said “if you need to ask that you can’t afford it!.” Now that’s customer service😂😂😂
  14. Being in that yard on change over day you always see the level of attention that was put into there fleet, every boat returns to a roof to water line foam wash, windows leathered and polished normally whilst 2 cleaners had a hoover going and cleaning inside ive seen cleaners from other yards go on and be on board for less than 10 minutes, I was really saddened when sue said they was selling the fleet I’m glad they still have a couple but I’ll really miss the blue and yellow fleet, the hustle and bustle on a Saturday the immaculate yard (it still is even as a private mooring marina) I hope we see the return one day of this type of yard 🤞🏻
  15. I think a lot of yards do lack in personal customer care though, I’ve hired countless boats over the years from many yards but mostly from summercraft and no one came remotely close to sue and Brian and they gave the same if you was a returning customer or new, silverline was very close I must say, however most just tell you off before you even open your mouth 🤣
  16. Well recently I have 21 emails to companies servicing the broads leisure craft and I appreciate there busy and I have never expected work to be started “tomorrow” but not to even email back with a message of we are busy but will get back to you ASAP I find terrible way of running a business if I did that to my customers (I’m a carpenter/joiner) I’d have no customers, I tend to email rather than call as I don’t being on the phone to someone whilst working on a customers projects

    Stern Gland

I did the same on my Powell’s 33, when I have her out the end of next season I’ll replace the cutless bearing and prop I’m fitting hydraulic steering and re fitting the galley this winter, but I’ll have to have the gearbox looked at this winter as it’s turning the shaft out of gear to quick for my liking but it will see rest of this season out 👍

    Stern Gland

    Stern Gland

I have been to the boat today to do the usual maintenance, just want to pick brains, the stern gland on my prop shaft is the collet and two bolt type I’ve always had the grease gland with the tape turn type, to repack the collet type do you just undue the nuts off the threads pull out the plate and pack with grease and replace plate
  20. Fitted sterling’s products on past boats and they’ve never really impressed they do replace and repair but one I had 4 faults in one year so Once bitten twice shy,
  21. Just wondering what battery charges people have fitted I have a solar panel on the roof but it’s ugly and I would rather the guarantee that power being is being tricked in to the battery’s specially when I’m planning on using her weather dependent in the winter, I have seen the vicron charges with 3 out puts but not sure regarding ampage
  22. Well after a short ownership of a small fairline i have bought the old fine freedom a alpha 32 which Already in love with it only one horror we came across a leaky window which I’ll be sorting next week a good old BMC 1.5 loads of space can’t wait to have her out for half term in October
  23. Keebz

    Wow!

I’m glad others are on my wave length I was concerned I was getting tighter in my my old age 😂
  24. Keebz

    Wow!

That’s what I originally thought but the invoice is clearly itemised including sizes I was shocked to say the least I had 2legs serviced for £1500 I thought I needed to put my daily labour charge up
