  1. Very friendly locals (and dogs) at Upton. As I say, the day I can't drink in a pub I'll give up!!!!
  2. ...... And of course me and Mrs Nog doing our bit
  3. Well every single table bar one booked this lunchtime. Busy with locals already. Doesn't feel like a failing pub.
  4. The debt ridden pubcos are trying to squeeze ever last drop out of their leaseholders. Add business rates, fuel, staff etc the pressure is certainly on pubs now. But the Red Lion in Cromer was rammed yesterday. Rick Malt has done an amazing job with the Lion and White Horse. On thr Broads it's often the pubco pubs that struggle eg Maltsters, New Inn etc. But speaking personally if I have the choice of a well kept albeit five quid pint in a warm friendly pub or a pack of John Smiths at my kitchen table the pub wins hands down every time for me. Mind you I might have to drink more slowly or put Mrs Nog on singles....
  5. The wind has dropped a fair bit now.
  6. Definitely a South Westerly! Blowing from the end of Faircraft Loynes yard. Fair bit of creaking but after a few St Giles gins Mrs Nog is sleeping like the proverbial top
  7. Red Lion when Mrs Nog has finished with the 2p pushers
  8. Will certainly try! Safely in Faircraft Loynes yard and it is literally persisting it down
  9. I suspect Punch will advertise for a new tenant M but could take some time. I doubt anyone would take it on at this time of the year.
  10. And top marks to the Swan for not booting us out early
  11. Thanks John Looking good, I'd go for the ales so Landlord and Ghost Ship look fine to me. Nice to see the old Bell thriving.
  12. Nope I could count the fingers of one hand the number of any boats we've seen on the move this week. Not seen one hire boat anywhere. Peaceful bliss. Highly recommended Simon
  13. Thanks for the heads up John. Not been in for a long time. What beer do they have on?
  14. Managed to beat the rush at Horning
  15. Very good indeed. Not tried the grub but Nog and Winter Reserve very good. Mrs Nog working the gin shelf (again)
  16. We take the boat back on Monday M Compared with last December it is much milder but wetter! In some ways I prefer it frosty but dry. Fur and Feather today hopefully for a drop of Norfolk Nog
  17. Raining again! Stove is lit in the Lion though
  18. Indeed, no speed limit on Breydon. Just think in winter they don't have much to do so might want to check what we're up to Been taking it very steady all week though, it's amazing how much fuel you save
  19. Ah, going the other way, rather than overtook Steady 1500 revs
  20. Hi M Breydon was quite calm really, southerly wind possibly. No issues, all went very smoothly. Didn't stop for water at Stracey as fairly full but worth noting. Now dropped anchor
