Clive, The photos you took in November '78 where of Turners Boatyard, first on the left as you turned down Ferry Road in Horning. Run by Dennis and Peggy George. bought by Colin Facey when they retired, rehashed then sold again, now just faceless characterless buildings. Not that I'm bitter but that part of Horning had a lot more charm than the rubbish that planning allow nowadays

Summercraft have holiday cottages around their boatyard area and if they are the same high standard as the boats you won'y go far wrong. My sources tell me that Moores will soon be no more, that the boats will be taken over by Barnes Brinkcraft, JPC will relocate to their premises at Lowestoft and the yard will revert to private moorings.

As JPC/Moores are agents for Sleipner bowthrusters and they fit them to their bigger hire boats I would say that they are worth taiking to. 01603 784884

i think it is a little like the motor industry Pete, there are some out to rip you off and at the other end of the scale, as you seem to have had, someone who will charge a fair price AND be fair. There are one or two examiners that, by rumor, shouldb be avoided. For the sake of those who are wary maybe you could recomend this guy.

I see from todays EDP some chap took a 29lb pike from the Bure near Wroxham (downstream going by the photo) last weekend. Seems even the fish wanted to get out into the sunshine!
