  1. All the best for as speedy recovery as possible Simon
  2. Only trouble with that theory Trevor, is that Stokesby Ferry was originaly a Lacons pub, then obviously Whitbread and latterly Adnams, so it would never have had Norwich Brewery beers
  3. Ohh dear, my head is spinning trying to remember that far back. Firstly, that lady is familiar... from where!!! Secondly, Carol your photo could indeed be 1986. Straining my brain cells now, as that web link says when Norwich brewery was closed they still produced Norwich Bitter (& Mild), if memory serves me right it was brewed Northampton way. Now I may be wrong but after they stopped brewing in Norwich they stopped brewing Castle Bitter, their 'real ale' and introduced Websters Yorkshire Bitter instead, as per the photo Disclaimer: I am dragging the depth of my memory here so I am quite prepared to be corrected
  4. I agree Steve, as I did post on another thread, HT 'Percy' Percival did tell me that he reckoned that they were ditching their bombs and had a go at the searchlight battery on Horning recreation ground rather than the Ferry or the Sheds he built the MTB's in as they would have been in darkness
  5. Hold hard Danny, if you read my response it was pro-saily to Patricians reply to Plesbits post. I am totaly By the way, there are also two of us. Do Westies taste anything like Yorkies?
  6. and are not snarling the river up with all that imperious, zig-zagging, "the rudder's in for repair" type behaviour!
  7. I must say it's amazing what you can do with a Brownie 127
  8. Or maybe 69% want snow, we're not all sheep, I'm most certainly not!
  9. Not too bad a beer Howard although I think of the St. Austell beers I like Proper Job IPA the best which isn't anywhere as common as the Tinners down there, it's suprisingly strong at 4.5% for an IPA. Personally I prefer to sample some of the Sharps or Skinners beers.
  10. Snow, Snow, Snow, Glorious, Love It, Gamble around in it, catch the flakes, bring it on!
  11. Hi Dan Looks like the bungalow behind Caribbean E66 in your first picture is 'Journeys End' before it's total rebuild in the early 70's. Used to be owned by a French family and then bought by Rupert Latham who rebuilt it. I remember E66 being delivered to Wilds, one of the many to come from Loddon
  12. They also swim, however not as much as other ducks. As regards flying, the males find it such hard work they don't bother.
  13. H.T. 'Percy' Percival , whos boatyard in Horning was building MTB's during the war, always maintained that the plane was attempting to hit searchlight battery on the village recreational ground
  14. Hi C Ricko, welcome to the site. Have you looked at Black Sailed Traders by Roy Clarke it may well be in there.
  15. Interesting to see they had a yacht in 1945 barry, I suppose they were the only boats avaiable just after the war. I should think the engines in the motor cruisers would need extensive work to get them running again.
  16. Very interesting last picture Barry. Do you know the history behind it? There seem to be alot of boats moored there considering the year and the apparent time of year.
  17. Southgates Main yard, not the Lower Street yard
  18. The shop that Basil Curtis had is featured at the top of page 18 in Broadland Photos thread. Clives picture entitled 'Sunset Thurne Dyke 3' taken from the opposite direction and now a very extended private house - what else! Just out of interest the pumping shed just past there going down the dyke, some 30 odd years ago, if you gave the door a kick the pump would start up!
