Hi,Jonathon,When my head gasket blew when i was doing 25 knots there was an awful screeching/whining noise and loss of power.and the engineer found it had blown in 5 places and the engine had only done 60 hours from new.
Thanks,Mark, must admit before i go changing this and that setting i will use the FullAuto feature till i get used to handling it,the manual is HUGE for me anyway,i purchased the DSLR Handbook and it could be quite useful as it is in large print and pictures.
Well, bit the bullet and got a Canon 550D today from warehouse express with the 18 - 55mm lense and have spent the last 3 hours charging batteries, fiddling with the controls, bit different to what i have been used to (point and shoot cameras) the quality of pictures is absolutely stunning and i hav'nt taken many yet just out the front door also a few inside.
I thought my Kodak 12mp camera was good and it is up to a point (and its now for sale) but the 550D takes HD video as well which is a bonus (for me anyway) the software which came with the camera is excellent and sorts all my pics out on my pc all together.the only thing i have not found in the software is the edit pics button don't think its got one,i mean the resize button. oh back to windows picture manager then.Looking forward to trying it out in Broadland and on the boat next week on the way to the meet at Salhouse.
Just found an interesting site for reviews of cameras, you might find your camera on here quite comprehensive with lots of pictures. Here is the one for the 550D i am interested in.

I have already got a HD Video camera Mark, but a friend of mine has got a DSLR camera with HD Video and the results he shown me were well, very very good.and there is nothing wrong for me to have a camera that does both but with good quality.you cannot always switch from picture taking to your video camera that quick especially when your hanging on a boat.are there longer lasting batteries for these cameras as sometimes that is the falldown.
Just found this film of what the HD video quality is like on the 550D stunning, click on play and watch the cat looking thro the window.
