So funny. SwMBO loved it.

Peter. if the balance is tottering towards the jokes the only solution is more stories on the broads. As I am not there until the end of July over to you. Although I have managed to book two weeks on the canal du midi next August I thought that I would push my luck with the other half and ask if she wanted to go on the Broads in May 17. To my great surprise she said yes. Within five minutes I had sent an email off to Lynda at Maffetts and booked Swallow for a week the next morning. Three weeks boating next year. Can't believe it!. We always get great service from John and Lynda and have fallen in love with Swallow. They keep both Merlin and Swallow in excellent condition.

I only hire on the broads and can cheerfully say that I have come across numpties in both private and hire boats. I have had both types say sorry and both do a runner.

I am sure they were replaced prior to them being sold.

Enjoyed that one. Don't know what Robin had been drinking, must have been good. Excellent sense of humour developing. Thanks.

Oi. I as well as always reading the handbook I also drive a BMW and use the indicators. My wife keeps telling me they will have to take it off me.

In 2017 we wish to hire a boat on the Canal Du Midi during August. We normally hire Swallow from Maffets so we do not need the newest poshest boats, but will have my son and daughter in law plus a little one under 2. Looking for a reasonably priced boat for about 10 or 11 days starting on a Monday thus giving us the weekend to drive there and back. would prefer to have dual steerage if possible. Any help you can give is most welcome.
Thanks

As long as they are paying to dispose of it correctly why does it really matter. I say well done and thank you to him.

I suspect that some customers have no common sense and then there are those that just have no respect for anything especially the asset they are floating about on. a combination of the two could be extremely dangerous resulting in high cost repairs and loss of rental costs while the boat is being repaired. My worry is that tales of what I hope is just a minority may put off people that are contemplating hiring for the first time.
A week or more on the Broads is a lovely place to relax and enjoy the nature around you. With a little application of common sense and taking it nice and easy that first hire is not difficult and can result in a lifetime relationship with the Broads.
Our experience of Andy's yard was very good. The training was good and the service excellent. Just avoid the desire to rush everywhere and use the revs sparingly especially near other boats or coming into moor.
Take a chance, hire a boat and enjoy.

Excellent book. Really easy read, makes you feel as though you are there with them.

We use Maffetts, this year they have reduced their boats back down to the two wooden ones. Both are lovely boats with lots of character. We hire Swallow if we can. Suits all of our needs. We also hired for an additional week at Freedom last year at short notice and Swallow was out. Service was excellent, fuel economy on Sweet Freedom was fantastic and we got under the Potter Heigham bridge. Recommend both yards if they have boats that suit your needs.
