  1. That sounds like the person in question is actually (despite any protestations) one of his supporters possibly trying to protect the advancement of their own career?. Synicl i know, but i`ve witnessed that sort od scennario nearly every week at work.
  2. Hi all Apart from Custom Craft and Jeckells, does anybody have any details of any other upholsterers around the Broads?. I know of Snugtopzz, but i believe Tony only does cockpit canopies and seating, but no interior furnishings?. All info is greatfully recieved.
  3. You think that`s worrying John, i did see Strowager liked one of my posts? Seriously though, whatever MY beliefs are, i always respect other peoples beliefs, and often, although they differ from mine, there`s usually a lot of common sense in peoples opposing posts, it`s just that sometimes, we all have to agree to disagree. It`s what makes this forum such a good place for discussion.
  4. Good god, snails, quailes, what on earth is wrong with the good old Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding?. Whatever next, seeing the NBN burgee on Masterchef?.
  5. Unfortunately, there`s no way whatsoever of having him removed. He`s there for the duration untill he`s had enough. The only group that can remove him is some government group, but all the time he is doing what THEY want, he`ll be safe. No government will remove an authority leader to appease an often rightminded public, especially if those members of public feel that a different approach and strategy is what is needed, because they think it`s a classic example of losing face. That`s why i believe the only fair thing to do, is to make the BA an elected authority. Then, maybe, the public, and especially those members of the public that make their living out of, and know what`s best for the Broads, will actually be able have their views properly represented and get things done properly?.
  6. The only fair way to toll EVERY different type of boat is by individual size, being by per square metre, based on length x beam. It`s the simplest way, Draught is irrelavent, as is height, performance etc as it`s YOUR choice of what type of boat you have. These ideas of taxing by engine power, sail area, location of props and shafts etc etc are all complete rubbish. You will only ever be occupying a fixed amount of water between your boats max extremities, and at a max of 6mph, so that is what your toll should be based on. We don`t live in a perfect world, so let`s have a reasonably balanced system for toll collection. One other thing to consider, if the toll system was to dramtically change, and be based on a million different scenarios, just think how happy the BA would be when they have to set up yet another unnessecary quango of overpayed beaurotwatts to implement and collect thousands of different toll rates. And who do you think is going to pay for them, and at what pecentage increase to tolls?. No, the simplest way should be by per meter squared. As Alexander says ................ SIMPLES
  7. Hi Alan, hope all is well with you and Dave?. I get the impression Jaws is being moved "oop narth", is that so, and if so, for what reason?. Regards to you both ............... Neil.

Where have you been ;) I'll pm you mate as this is public..

  8. And a lot of financial investment too. Sadly, we`re never on the Broads enough, let alone enough to frequaent a lot of the riverside pubs / restaurants etc as often as we`d like. However, when we`re back up on Lightning, it will be for 2 weeks next June / July, and the upper Ant will definitely be on our list of destinations. There is one question however, Who owns the moorings on the southern bank, are they linked to the hotel?, if so, will there be a mooring re-fund if we eat in?.
  9. Shame Your AGM was`nt 2 weeks ago, as we would have offered you free accomodation .
  10. Both Thunder and Moonlight Shadow were in all week. I was a bit surprised, but then Lightning was in the week before.
  11. Thanks for that Ian. I tried to get a link from fb but it did`nt work.
  12. I just came across this on faceache and thought some on the forum might be interrested?. Looks like it did`nt load up, so on Sunday 29th November there`s a one off one and a half hour programme where Guy Martin gets involved with the Vulcans last flight. Should be rather interresting.
  13. I`m sure most on here have read some of my posts where i say i`m a ludite, and proud of it. The big problem with everything being done on-line, is that there`s a stash of digital evidence of every single little dit, slash, letter hyphon, you name it it`s there, and no matter what you do, a very adept hacker can quite easily get into your system and change things, without you ever knowing. Despite all these so called impossible to break code words, passwords etc, someone somewhere will be able to get into your system, and you or i can do absolutely s.d all about it. Iflatly refuse to do on-line banking, it is NEVER safe, and has been proven as so, i flatly refuse to be bullied into doing anything on-line, with the exception of buying a few CDs and DVDs. I never book holidays, or insure my car, or anything on-line. What i do do, is to browse the internet and get all the relevant information i need for something, then i phone them up. Then, when they try to push me to buy it on-line, i tell them no, and if they are`nt interested in my custom, i`l go elsewhere. That`s when all of a sudden, they ARE interrested. The internet should NEVER have ever been used for anything more than an information super highway. It also makes people lazy, and it has been proved that most young people will suffer serious arthritis problems in the future because of the way they are constantly using their hands and fingers in an unhealthy way. I`ve always been a very scynical and suspiceous person regarding why authority or body that wants everybody doing everything on-line. It`s their way of keeping tabs on everything about you, just like CCTV. As long as i can keep coming onto this forum, and keep in touch with family and friends viia faceache, that`s all i`l do on-line.
  14. And these last 2 showing what was in store for tomorrow. This time the weathermen got it right, so we moored at home for Thursday night and Friday, and went to Beccles by car, then to Thurne to see Liz at Ramblers. It was a lovely 3 days cruising on empty rivers under mostly blue sky. If anyone ever gets the chance to hire a boat out of season, do it. You can`t garuntee the weather, but you can`t do that in this country at ANY time of year no matter what the season But if you`re blessed with sunny weather, the Broads has a totally different but equally as magical charm.
  15. Acouple showing the 3 Squib daysailers that escorted us back to Brundall.
  16. Acouple from Langley dyke, Thursday lunchtime.
  17. Yes, thanks Peter. I just read the opening paragraph and it describes me to a tee. I`m not religeous, but love to look at old churches, and have many really nice photo`s of stained glass windows. What i also like about churches is the history they can tell about the parish, and its people. Even though their individual history may not be of imediate interest tome, it`s a vital for those that need and use it.
  18. I know it`s a boring picture of a bit of river, reeds, and the sky, but i think this picture is a prime example of big and beautiful Norfolk skies are. I doubt you`ll find a bigger sky anywhere in this country?.
  19. Just a couple more taken on the Waveney between Oulton dyke and Somerleyton. I`ve really been hooked on out of season cruising if the weather stays like this, and with rivers as empty as this.
  20. Yet more blue sky, this time with Karen steering from above for the first time. It was at this time she realised just exactly how long Lightning is, and found it a bit daunting. She soon got used to it, and after i told her it`s the same boat she was driving from inside the day before.
  21. Thursday morning. Note the colour of the sky.
  22. It`s quite a plain building without any luxuries like ornate stained glass windows.
  23. The church at Burgh St Peter. we had a walk up and a look inside.
  24. I can honestly say Howard, i`ve NEVER seen Ranworth staithe like that. I did see Neatishead like it though, but we were staying in Angler cottage just up the lane in Irstead. We did get in there in June this year, but there were 2 other boats there.
