  1. Well I like it there!

Its £10 a night which also includes as many showers in the very nice shower block as you need (better value if you have 10 onboard!).

You also get to see what a call the "evolution of man" i.e. the campers getting up in the morning. They crawl out of the tent in the morning, hair all a mess, smelly breath, and then slowly stretch until they are standing but with a stoop, then its on with the wellies until at last they can stand up straight. They then walk towards the showers clutching a wash bag, a towel which is guranteed to come unfolded and drag in the mud and clean clothes for the day ahead.

Meanwhile onboard your boat you just pop in the shower whilst the bacon is under the grill and the kettle is boiling.

  2. I guess that's Moonlight Shadow (other shadows are available!). Swapping does regularly take place at the AGM after the draw but obviously don't think you will be swapping your feb week for August....

I have only known the boats to be frozen in once-last year when the decision was take winterise the boat during the worst of it.

To be honest a number of owners don't actually use their winter week and accept for their money they will only use if three weeks of the year which is still fantastic value compared to hiring for three weeks. Other owners use the boat as a floating cottage during winter.

I do know of an owner on Evening Shadow that is about to sell his 4 week share-PM me if you want the contact details.

  3. Out of Brooms! We have a two week share in Thunder which is moored at Brooms and a two week share on Evening Shadow which is based at Barnes in Wroxham. We generally do two weeks down south and two weeks up north and never cross Breydon. It's ideal really.

I think I prefer the North as with two young children you do less cruising between places which suits us better. Having said that I think the south has better pubs and Reedham is my favourite overnight mooring. We also spend a fair bit of time at Oulton Broad as there is loads to do and if the weather suits we pop to Lowestoft on the train and spend some time on the beach although I don't think we will be doing that at Easter but we will back down south on Thunder in August with Jubilee week on Evening Shadow in between. It's tough!

  4. Not sure if this is the best place to post so feel free to move.

Basically I cant post on the forum when using my iphone. I can log in read the forum but the moment I try and post I go to the page where you write the post and basically the box is full of what i would call "script" and there is no "post" button either.

I have the most upto date software on the iphone and am pretty stumpted.

If nobody has any idea what I am on about I will try and post some screen shots.

    Thanks

  5. I believe it is the Wavney River Centre. We were in there this week and was told they will most likely be run as an independent yard. Some of the Topcraft boats will move North to Horning.

I also heard word of a southern base for Le Boat......

  6. Firstly-You know the traditional Whitsun bank holiday is a week later for the double Jubilee bank holiday week?

We have just done a week starting from Brundall and stayed south. We went:

    Sat night-Cantley

    Sun night-Waveny River Centre

    Mon night-Beccles after visiting Geldston

    Tue-Waveny River Centre

    Wed-Reedham-visited Petits during the day

Thur-Oulton Broad-Spent the afternoon in Lowerstoft

    Fri-Brundall.

Our schedule was around children so it may not suit you!

Not sure what style or price of boat you are after but Swancraft get good reviews.

I dont think it will be cold-possibly a but chilly at night. We are actuall onboard that week but up norf!
