Hi Brian
I think Matt has come up with a pretty good itinery there!
Just as an addition, try mudweighting on Surlingham broad for your final night. It's only 10 minutes from Silverline's yard and can be quite magical on a still clear night.
Why thank you. We have never tried mudweighting on Surlingham-the lure of Rickland has always been to great!

I think Dan was being facetious Matt I am very surprised at your insurers attitude Alan, most are perfectly comfortable with rafting (or double mooring as you call it) it is not unusual in some marinas and harbours, particularly on club visits or when busy to raft four or more deep.
I had clocked that! I was trying to portray my exasperation at the situation!
Double mooring has long been permitted in several places trouble free as far as I am aware. It seems that there could be a little bit of "profiteering" going on.
We had a week inboard a couple of weeks ago and double moored several times. All trouble free and in most cases very enjoyable.

Is the double mooring thing something new then?
Dan
No...............

Certainly plenty to do down south for a week. The 100 yard restriction does not help but that would be the same north or south!
My started for 10:
Sat night-Rockland Staithe. Please don't tell anyone about this gem of a place as I what to keep it to myself. Great pub 99 metres away....
Sun-Geldstone lock. Assuming boat fits under Beccles bridge and tide fits. Great pub 50m from BA mooring
Mon-Beccles. Not far from Geldstone but you will need right tide to get under bridge. Plenty going on in the yacht station to help you chill out for the day. Town is a bit of a walk though.
Tue-Oulton Broad yacht station. Great park to look around-25m away
Wed-Loddon. Moor in the basin. Visit Rose Lee tea room-35m
Thur-chug up for an afternoon/eve at Norwich. Goo open top bus tour near to moorings. Do a search on staying overnight in Norwich though-bit I a mixed bag due to nightlife. Personally never had a problem.
Fri-back to Rockland-it's that nice. But don't tell anybody......
Just my own personal thoughts and what I would edge towards but we don't like cruising for long periods of time.

It's a fair point! And as to the photo you looked like you were enjoying yourself! And the boat looked lovely-let me know if you want me to send you the pics.

We actually saw a ranger a few times in our week down south.
On the Friday morning there appeared to be a lot of oil in the water in Loddon basin and some of the ducks appeared to have oil stuck to them so we rang the BA river control number. 45 minutes later a Ranger appeared on his boat to investigate.

There was a bit of an incident there yesterday.

What you do is tell everyone what you have booked before you go. Then when you get home start a holiday thread saying how bad everything was when you return without naming the yard-simples!
-
How about Bramerton for a last night stop?
Maybe 30 mins from the yard?
-
I have never seen her above Ludham Bridge but I did see her in the yard just prior to her first hire and against their other boats which I have seen above Ludham you won't have a problem.
You may need to check the tide times to be 100% sure.

Never got it to work!
Useless.

The data isn't stored on the web server, in fact it's not stored online at all.
Excellent. Just burglary to worry about then!
-
Just out of interest we have to supply personal information to join the members area on this site-where is that inform stored?

My own thoughts are that yobs are few and far between and even fewer and farer between in April and October.
If quietness is your thing then I would suggest that the South Broads will be quieter than the North, but given the times you are thinking of going the North will hardly be busy.

There is water available at Gaye's Staithe but it is not the longest hose in the world. It is situated towards the river side.
-
Really? I bow to your far superior aerial!
I bet it would still struggle on ourside though..,..
-
I can't comment on Bill's smaller version but the only place I have not been able to get a signal is on the mooring in Wroxham but Bill moors opposite and he can't get one either!
-
Evening Shadow has a DM Log Periodic-40 which works really well.
It is however rather long so storing can be a problem.
-
First thing would be to check where you are picking up the boat-Stalham or Hickling!
I would assume Stalham.......
-
I don't think you need a PM to tell you that-it's not Swift.
For those not in the know just think to yourself how would one find out what other people on this forum know? How did they find out?
-
Alan,
We are not messing around with Evening Shadow this month!
First I spent about £150 on replacing some items onboard, then oven gives up and needs replacing-£600 and last sat big drive shaft problems-£700!
Expensive this boating lark!

Detective work carried out!
-
My syndicate boat has not sunk yet!
I can't work out the boatyard but I think I have narrowed it two....
Seriously take some advice from the forum about which yard to use and give it another go over a weekend.
-
From Brooms fuel pump walk towards the train line (if you don't you will get wet!). After you have passed the dyke with the moored boats turn left and it is in one of the buildings opposite.
Chris is the man to see.

Maybe private boats should only allow hire boats double moor against them if the hire boats home yard allows private boats to moor in the yard.
Or even better Levi the same charge!
For a Royalls boat charge £10 for an overnight double mooring (at least I think it is £10). If it is a Barnes boat charge by the foot!
Obviously I don't actually mean this.....
