Well this is great news, but how true is it?30% is a really massive figure.I booked a family sized boat for August just this week and the availability choice from a number of places suprised me, so this 30% does not sit right with the feel of other years to me very much?Dan
Indeed. It really depends on who many bookings were made last year in the run up to the Olympics......

A 27ft seagoing dinghy, Matt???
You'd need a mooring area all to yourself!
:naughty:
Feet? Feet? 2.7 metres-welcome to the modern era!
-
I have a seago 270 inflatable air deck dinghy.........
I could have an owners area all to myself!
-
Alas our week from the 20th July is our fourth and final week afloat of the year. :-(
-
Looks good to me but I still can't make it!
-
The thread title says 25-27th July which is a Thursday/Friday but everybody seems to be booking from a Friday.......
-
But Neil the right of navigation would apply to the moorings at the above boatyards that sit on the main river, no?
Of you take Brooms for example would it BA's responsibility to dredge the river at the Broom fuel pump moorings?
-
Neil you might be right but by the same reasoning that would mean Brooms and Barnes would get their river front moorings dredged for them!
-
But Lori surely the responsibility to dredge private moorings belongs to the owner, not the BA?
-
Once you know it is Beccles you can see it quite clearly. And I did not need the clues!
-
Beccles......
-
Norfolk Nog-slightly off topic but I believe Brooms are hiring all through winter if that is of interest.
-
Without opening a big can of worms is that not the side opposite the BA basin? And if so is it not private moorings? If so who is responsible for the dredging?
And just to add at Easter (maybe two weeks prior to the photo being taken, which as we know was an extremely low tide) we took Thunder up there and arrived about low tide and had no problems.

I got the invite but we are off to see Robbie Williams at Wembley.......

They are on the "other side"....

That's a very interesting comment, Matt. If you throw in leccy it's nearer £50, isn't it? Which is that much less to spend on grub or beer.
We do occasionally moor on the floating pontoon by the lido in Beccles. We've never been charged. Also mooring at Thorpe, just outside Norwich, is free and buses pass by frequently. Of course you need a boat with a sub 7ft airheight.
The other place I forgot is Great Yarmouth. I am sure plenty of families stop in Yarmouth for the day.
Still, at least Reedham is free moorings........

We to would prefer to be in the yacht station but over the course of a week on the south side mooring fees can add up and I am sure so some people it all adds up to the cost of a holiday. Obviously you have the choice of where to moor and therefore pay but there are fees at the following:
-Beccles
-Oulton
-Norwich
-WRC
All places that we as a family like to stop at and so far that must be £40 give or take electric.

Today's Barnes newsletter was offering 25% off and there are at least 2 discount websites that have sprung up. We pulled into Richos during half term and the must have been about 100 boats still in yard and their boats seem to be very keenly priced.
-
Clive assuming I don't have my sail boats mixed up (and there can't be many with a mast that big!) it looks like the practice by the Cockshoot moorings last week paid off!
-
Not at all, it was very handy - You're quite right that it's preferred if people link to external pictures, but as Mark says we do understand that some aren't too sure how to do that and we don't want people to feel that they can't post pictures.
We have to strike a balance between making the forum great for people to use, while keeping a handle on our running costs.
Sorry to keep the thread drifting but I have uploaded some photos today vis Tapatalk. Should I be using the option of Tapatalk hosting them rather than the forum option?

But they should work on shore power without the inverter?

I shall be "ploughing" through to get to the windmill open afternoon. I shall have a drink beforehand to steady my nerves......
-
Bill whatever you do don't tell him about Rockland or Whitlingham Park we don't want those places getting busy..........

Johnny I know they were mentioned above but did you look at http://www.norfolkrivercottages.co.uk/index.html A number of the properties have ramps put in and they have river frontage and often take pets.
Your favourite boat, and why?

The 38's really are lovely fine weather boats but we found Evening Shadow rather drafty around the sliding roof in the colder weather. Obviously work can be done to improve this.
There was a lovely that has now been sold at NYA with an asking price of £90k. Yes 90.....
