BuffaloBill
Just reviving this thread......Was that short aerial used outside in the rain? I only ask as I now own one but not taken it to the boat yet.
deebee29
Yes we left it out all fortnight without any issues. I used one of these gel pads to hold it and it never moved an inch, even in the high winds. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silica-Gel-Magic-Sticky-Pad-Cellphone-Anti-Slip-Non-Slip-Mat-for-Mobile-Phone-F/122858071732?_trkparms=aid%3D555019%26algo%3DPL.BANDIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20170912102133%26meid%3D4f8d83b3042142239cbbdf77fc250139%26pid%3D100754%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26&_trksid=p2045573.c100754.m4842 these pads don’t mark the gel coat at all. I just used it at home a couple of weeks ago and it’s still working fine, even indoors I got all the channels.
BuffaloBill
Thanks for that. I asked because it says 'indoor aerial' and that made me wonder if it was waterproof.
deebee29
No problem We only used it for a 2 week hire but had some pretty extreme weather over that time. I don’t know how it would survive if left out for extended periods, maybe a bit of Vaseline or similar around the joint would keep the water out. It’s now an essential part of our boating kit hope it works out for you
