ranworthbreeze
Hello Vanessan, These surveys are usually carried out by a towed unit that will map out the depth and condition on the rivers that are surveyed, these surveys are also carried out on harbors, marinas and estuaries as byetherivers suggests prior to dredging or filling voids, operations Regards Alan

Hi @vanessan @Bytheriver and @ranworthbreeze are correct. They are technical terms that basically mean to survey and measure the water depth at various locations around the Broads network (full details of locations can be found on the document in the link). These surveys allow us to plan future dredging works and other operations. There's more info on our website: https://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/looking-after/managing-land-and-water/dredging and Geosight's (the contractor) https://www.geosight3d.com/services/hydrographic-surveys/ Tom 2
grendel
Tom, do you have comparison charts from previous surveys, I am sure that them members here would be happy poring over them to come up with yet another theory as to why the air draft at Potter Bridge is reducing. (actually I am quite interested in maps and charts of all sorts generally as I work with them where I work).

Hi Grendel, Yes we do have data from previous years, although the method of surveying has recently changed and become more advanced. If anyone wanted to ask to see the data it would be best to put in a contact form on our website: https://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/contact-us/contact-form Tom
