With an answer to these anti slip finishes that manufacturers put on various polymer and plastic finishes that after a few years go sticky making the product very unpleasant to use. At the last count I have:- a nice fountain pen, my climbers' Altimeter, that doubles as my pocked Barometer, a camera and a worldwide short wave radio.

I have tried washing with various hydrocarbons and even talcing them but they are still horrible and sticky.

Try wiping with isopropyl alcohol wipes. Used by the medical profession before injections prior to intravenous procedure. The isopropyl must be in a solution of at least 70%. Used by tattoists and nail bars. May also be used in antibacterial hand jell.

Old Wussername.

I've had some success with Meths on a tissue or old cloth, rubbed repeatedly it takes the stickyness off.

I can't tell you how long it lasts because the torches and stud finder I did with it haven't gone bad again yet, it's been about 9 months so far.
