Vaughan
Here is the Challenger, from Blakes catalogue of 1964. There were two of these but they were not quite the same design and only one had the little front open cockpit, with a windscreen and canvas cover. I always thought that must have been a great place for young children.
webntweb
The Challenger MK II with the front cockpit from Blakes 1963. They are listed as numbers 2 & 3 while in the 1947 catalogue they are listed as 1 & 2 – was there another one or have they listed them in the later catalogue as 2 & 3 to separate them from the Mark I ? I still find it hard to believe that a boat of that modern a design was in the 1947 catalogue.
Turnoar
I note the earlier Challenger catalogue entry stated it wouldn’t normally go under Potter bridge, this one looks more hopeful. Did Defender? Agree that the later Challenger looked ahead of its time, the flow of the curve following from stern, roof, almost to bow (in reverse order) is what to my mind made the John Moxham designed Alpha crafts of the early noughties similarly appealing when they first appeared.
