Guest
At this time of year be wary of any "Christmas Card" email attachments you may receive from strangers, or with generic "Dear Sir" type greetings. Because most of them need to run code to produce the animated effects, there can be malicious trojans or viruses in the innocent looking attachments. Occasionally, even when appearing to come from a friend, they can be viruses on their machines that have automatically used the host's email address book to perpetuate themselves. If you Google the phrase "Christmas Card Trojan", you'll see plenty of results like this: http://www.scambusters.org/ecards.html Up to date ant-virus software should catch most, but not all.... Guest
Sorry Hylander, I didn't want to Humbug Christmas or unnecessarily worry anyone. The vast majority are OK, and good seasonal fun, we just need to be wary of anything unexpected, just like all those emails from Banks asking us to verify our passwords !
