More disappointment tonight

Right behind you it's lads only I even clean my own grills and it's got to be charcoal.

Right on. Gas is just like using the oven indoors.

Of course. For years the OED definition was

 

"a meal or gathering at which meat, fish, or other food is cooked out of doors on a rack over an open fire"

 

Recently they have added "or on a special appliance" but for me gas is not a barbecue. I do have an "outdoor gas grill", which says barbecue on the box, a very good, expensive one. It's very handy for cooking outdoors midweek when I don't have time to get a proper barbie going but no amount of special lava rocks, wood chips etc etc can match charcoal.

I like the event of a barbeque, the gathering of family and friends, but for me I prefer to cook most of the food in the oven and then just waft it over the barbi.

 

I have been to far two many barbeques where I have had to ask for my sausages and burger to be left at the back of the grill until the Fire Engine arrives
