Guys once again thanks to all of you for your input. I started off most confused about different types of batteries and I am now slightly less confused after re reading the thread several times.
Thanks guys but my point is the quotes were from the same marine supplier both 110amp both 2 year warrantee so should last the same amount of time . I was even quoted for a 'Truck' battery same spec but £10 dearer but 'would be much better'. Now I understood that boaters should use marine type batteries and not ones that are made for road vehicals. Sorry but seems confusing.
I have to buy 2 new batteries and can anybody tell me why I should pay £70/80 rather than £50/60 when they are both 110v and both 'marine batteries' and both warranteed for 2 years . Both quotes from the same supplier with the explanation that 'that one is better than that one' ............confused or just sales pitch ?
Just been over there and had a look at the remnents of the plug, all I can say is it is a good job you know what you are doing Clive, I think I would just want to sit down and cry after all that work
Paul, exactly what I got from Brian and I know he was disappointed to say the least.
Jonny, I agree but second opinion is too late now , the damage has been done .
Thanks for your input again guys I was wondering if I had gone a bit dulally but not being an expert I did wonder.
Apparently this was not visible but detected (?) by tapping and finding a hollow sound, this was by a surveyer and the suggestion was 2K to put it right and consequence loss of sale
Hi Clive, Has the bilge pump been left on in BV because I have been over there most of the morning and made a point of listening out and there has been no sound of the pump coming on so I reckon that all taking up that needs to be done has been done
I am considering fitting a tubular heater in my engine compartment but am seeking advice as to what size would be effective. It is not a very large compartment ( Elysian ) but am wondering if the smallest size 60w , would be large enough to be effective.
Only a couple I'm afraid Jill and not very interesting at the moment. The first 2 are looking through the stern window and the last 2 are from the side after she was launched just to see if any vast amounts of water were getting through, there is a bit but not very easy to see.
