  1. Hi - So Thursday evening - bit bored - decided to have a play in the engine bay. The first "filters" in the fuel line seem to be water traps. I took the bowls off and cleaned quite a bit of cr..er..sediment out and put all back together nice and shiney clean. Next to do are spin on filters, but awaiting delivery so left them for now. Anyway now I have a bowl full of air in the fuel lines. Do I need to bleed them - if so as they are higher than the tank? Many thanks and smelling of diesel Wayne
  2. Hi - I think it is a danforth, well that style anyway - It may be one of the similar copies. I dont really intend anchoring anywhere yet - I like being attached to something soild like a pontoon or quay - it's just the boat survey recommmeded it , as did the Sea Safe check. Thanks for your help Wayne
  3. Hi all Just trying to get my salty - "list of things to buy and do" - put together It has been suggested on a couple of occasions that it is a good idea to carry a kedge anchor. The main anchor is the folding type and I understand it is usual the kedge is something different - but what? The boat is 33 ft - can anyone advise please? thanks in advance Wayne
  4. Did I mention I always wear mine No ... seriously though it was good to have the safety message reinforced, not just the wearing but the maintenance as being just as important. We echo the thanks. W,T & K
  5. Maybe you should have held off re-naming your boat and called it "Special" as well, then on the VHF everybody would know it was you! Wayne
  6. Hi all I have a issue with my throttles or gearbox not engaging neutral properly. When mooring etc I put the lever in the neutral position but sometimes the boat carries on under power. Usually a little wiggle sorts it but sometines I have to go in the opposite direction first. This was made more apparent when I started the engine and on reving it to warm up the boat shot forward. I went to check the othyer helm and the levers were in neutral - good job I was still tied up. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks in advance Wayne

  12. Done nothing yet, her indoors has had the lurgy, loads to sort out - now panic is setting in. Only been out in sea Jem 3 times so mooring could be...interesting...watch out! Looking forward to it all though

  14. Even the dog has a life jacket...
  15. Having an rather ill her indoors on board over the weekend we decided just to chill out in the marina rather than go anywhere. Without knowing it we started to people watch, as you do, and we were absolutley amazed how many people were on the water without life jackets on, both adults and kids. We always wear ours on deck, and even the dog has one. O.K - so we probably look like a right bunch of spanners but then if we wanted fashion we would be boating in marbella. wayne
  16. Did we establish if there is a dress code at RNSYC? I have looked on their website and cannot seem to find anything ( I am ok with the Oulton bit - cagoule and wooly hat at the ready! ) Wayne

  19. Mark that is gross , you would have thought the pre-delivery inspection would include a tick box for "empty of poo" or was that on the sale details...maybe an optional extra
  20. Hi all Went down to Jeckells this am, so whilst I was there had a reckey of OB. The entrance to the lock thing looks a bit little Wayne

  23. Hiya I was under the impression SOLAS were regulations that had to be followed.. http://www.mcga.gov.uk/c4mca/solas.pdf... It is advisory rather than a legal requirment then? Thanks
