  1. Highly recommend one of these, especially when cooking a nice big juicy bass caught at Burgh Castle.
  2. Went past them today - they are adjacent to the mouth of the Chet. There is a 'no mooring' bit first, then the BA moorings. Boats exiting the Chet will still be able to see past the moored boats. Nice looking moorings - quite low with lots of decent mooring posts. Let's hope the disposable BBQs will be kept off the quay heading and they stay nice.
  3. Hooray - Breydon bridge is now operational.
  4. Thanks Alan. Looking forward to Mutford being properly operational.
  5. Organising a rugby tour is much the same - some want cheap, some want luxury (!), some want next door, some want abroad, some want rugby, some want drinking. No - all want drinking I feel your pain!
  6. Excellent. Just need the lock to work now.... So near yet so far
  7. As above - survey. Everything connected with boats costs a bomb - even paint and varnish is expensive, let alone decent timber for the interior, upholstery etc etc. I abandoned and sold a project boat a few years ago once I took my rose-tinted glasses off and priced the whole thing piece by piece. I then went and bought a boat all done - worked out cheaper, better finished and it's nice to be out afloat instead of sanding and painting etc etc. Tinkering and faffing is fine - good fun and rewarding, but I would never have another project boat. That said, if you do go for it: good luck and enjoy it hugely
  8. +1 for the Status and amplifier. Digital works very well and no need to angle anything as it's round. Crystal picture.
  9. Good luck Martin - hope it works out for you and you all enjoy it. We live just up the road from you, and the boat does venture north now and again, so we will call in.
  10. Have a word with the chap who does the petrol at Ludham garage - he's really into it and flies with a few different clubs.
  11. Pleased to hear it, I hope a few more thieving scumbags can be caught. Anyone know what the engine is/are?
  12. Met Office are forecasting gusts up to 69 mph on Monday. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/potter-heigham-norfolk#?tab=fiveDay&fcTime=1382918400
  13. Up to and including 12'6" is ok - it's over 12'6" which is more problematic..!
  14. Worth bearing in mind perhaps that officially anything over 12'6" beam is restricted on the Chet according to the BA bylaws. Actually, over 12'6" is very restricted on where she can go: http://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/broads/live/boating/navigating/byelaws/Vessel_Dimensions_Byelaws.pdf
  15. Mbird is quite right. We came back in and there was a road accident on Breydon bridge so we had to hang around for three hours. The tide was in full ebb and the wind was straight up the river making for a really uncomfortable swell. We were cork-screwing about. The people on the Lydia Eva beckoned us over and took our lines. They tied us up safely and gave us a tour and a cup of tea. They went home and trusted us to be on their boat alone. We were very grateful to them as there was a large wind boat and some large yachts taking up the Quay moorings.
  16. Unfortunately this is a service which is needed. I as 'unfortunately', as surely this should be one of the services provided as standard by the marina? I would have thought that a daily walk-round would be standard. My rib sank earlier this year with a brand new outboard on the back, and I only found it when I went down to check on it. Judging by the mud and silt which had settled on the motor, it must have been under at least a week. Is it so hard to pick up the phone and let me know?? Really not impressed with the marina at the time. In the case of some of the unattended moorings, fair enough, but if you pay the extra for marina services, this should be one of them IMHO.

  18. Just extraordinary. How many have to die before people get the message. Human v train; train wins every time.
