  1. I totally agree MT. I understand the reasons posting a video to cause uproar etc but at the end of the day no one has a right to threaten or abuse anyone. The boater should be held responsible for his actions too. I honestly do not understand people just wanting to cause trouble for the sake of it. Why we can't just all live in peace doing the things we love to do on the rivers is beyond me :facepalm:x

  2. I remember a few years back when we tried to moor on the island at Salhouse, there were several anglers from a boat set up right on the end where there was room for us to moor Broadland Mars. We asked politely if they could move up around the corner a tad and was told if I whipped my top off it wouldn't be a problem. We moved on

Please remember though, not all anglers are like these people, some are friendly and helpful too x

  3. Whatever the reasons or agenda for posting the video those men were threatening and abusive, that behaviour is disgusting. I don't know the law but surely they should be arrested, fined and banned from fishing for life

What happened to Kate is disgusting too and from a teenage girl. We fish regularly with the boys, if they behaved towards people in this way they would be in so very much trouble with me. They are being raised to have respect for others and the environment around them so hopefully we won't have that problem. Unfortunately, people like these two men have neither respect or care for anyone but themselves x

I watch the Norwich and Bath locations. Lots of feathers in the Norwich box this morning that weren’t there when I looked last night.

Yes, I watch the Bath one too. Beats anything on the telly any day of the week.

I hope when my time is up I don't come back as a pigeon :default_biggrin: x

Excuse me, but I don’t think I’m any less capable of doing a three point turn than the male species. Grace you should be ashamed of yourself for suggesting such a thing.

Oh Helen, I do apologise, I didn't mean all female drivers, just my friend Sarah. She gets herself into a bit of a flap when parking a car or mooring a boat, especially if people are watching

I think there are good and bad in both sexes, their driving leaves a lot to be desired too in some cases :default_biggrin: x

    (tongue firmly in cheek)

  6. You know us ladies could take offence at these remarks but we won't because everyone knows that women are better drivers. Okay, so a three point turn might turn into a ten point turn and when my friend Sarah parks her car, it takes at least 5 attempts, bless her. We do have fewer accidents, don't get into half as much road rage and know that the rear view mirror is for adjusting ones make up :default_norty: :default_biggrin: x

  7. Women do not nag. They just point out what you're doing wrong

You can quite easily get around remembering your wife's birthday every year too, just forget it the once :default_biggrin: x

  8. When I was little I always wanted to get stuck the other side of Wroxham or Potter bridges. My thinking was that if we got stuck they wouldn't be able to get us off the boat and I could stay longer :default_biggrin: x

  9. What Kate said, whatever that is :default_biggrin:

A very Happy St David's Day, especially to our Helen and Graham

A very happy National Corgi Day too

As for Spring, I have no faith in it coming at all.

Walk the school run they say, it helps with fitness and the environment they say, so I did what they said (whoever they are). I got caught out in 40mph winds, torrential rain and my brolly blew inside out, thought I was going to take off like Mary ruddy Poppins :facepalm:x

I stayed there a couple of times last year but didn’t think to ask. I got a discount as they were four night stays.

I love it there, the food and service is always good and the friendly staff are excellent too. Oh and to sit outside enjoying the view with a nice latte (or wine) :default_biggrin:

I hope you enjoyed your stay x

I think Grendel may have at least one. :default_icon_e_biggrin:

I think Grendel is also a cyclist. Not to put a spanner (Grendel has a lot of them too) in the works but I wonder if he drinks whilst in charge of his bicycle :default_biggrin:

I know the weather today has been awful. Spring IS on it's way, so cheer up everyone. We will soon be enjoying a libation whilst chugging along our beautiful rivers

  12. Well if anyone is baiting then I have been hooked

We joke about Prosecco and the size of wine glasses because that's all it is, a bit of banter and fun between forum friends. I don't see it as being two faced at all

I enjoy a glass of wine while I'm helming on a summers afternoon. I have never been drunk in charge of a boat preferring to moor up for the evening and then maybe a couple of glasses. That makes my holiday and loads of others I am sure

Once again, reports of people crashing boats because of being drunk at the helm harms it for those of us who helm responsibly.

Unfortunately, as with most things, bad behaviour is so much more news worthy than the good x

Its absolutely fine to say that to me !

As you can see from my recent posts, I'm trying to work out what I can wait to do, but what really needs doing now

In the meantime, I spent a couple of hours exercising my credit card in Dunelm yesterday. In return, the store let me walk out with a whole load of bedding and towels ...

Now I just need to find a load of unnecessary crockery and kitchen stuff to relieve a store of.

In my defence, I think it reasonable to be able to sleep and eat on the boat with some semblance of normality

I have banned myself from shopping in Dunelm, I could spend all day in there and could easily bankrupt meself :default_biggrin:

Loving this thread Biker. Your excitement for your boat shines through. Can't wait to read of your adventures :default_icon_kiss:

  14. I showed this thread to my dad, it helped him a little, thank you for that.

I agree about not putting things off and going for whatever you want to do before it's too late. Old age is coming to all of us, those of us lucky enough to live till then anyway.

Getting older is hard enough but when you develop an illness or condition, it just makes things even more difficult. My dad is a strong man, he fights every day, never complains but there's a hint of sadness within him. He can still remember the times we had on boats, we often talk about them. You can see his face light up when we do

He also told me off for my earlier post that was badly written :facepalm:It was late, I was tired and I've had Covid, that's my excuse anyway :default_biggrin:

If you exercise, eat the right foods, get your eight hours etc etc, you are still going to end up the same as everyone else. So take life by the unmentionables and enjoy every moment x

  15. You never know what can happen in the future

I haven't hired a boat for at least 5 years because my dad, bless him, lost his leg and now has Parkinson's. We try to get him on the Broads as much as we can albeit on land as boating is impossible for him now.

I know he  misses boating so much but nigh on impossible now for him anyway and that's why we look for land based holidays near the rivers

I could never hire a boat knowing it's what he wants more than anything, in his mind at least but his body is unable

I so understand where Old Wusser is coming from because of the situation with my dad

It could happen to anyone, as for Andrew, I totally understand where he is coming from and I feel for him so much

    Grace x
