My goodness, that takes some nerve, well ruddy done. I've even shut my eyes when the Pilot takes us through
Next time we hire a boat, I'm hiring one that WON'T go under the bridges x

Anyone know what the loud bangs are over the marshes at Reedham?
Probably the local farmers shooting at pesky hirers I don't suppose Mrs N will mind as long as she can get to a gin cabinet x

Forgive me if you've been up to Dilham or Coltishall in the past but if you haven't had that pleasure the cruise to Coltishall is stunning, one of my favourite places on the whole of the system. The water is so clear you can see the fish, King Kingfishers are in abundance. It's untouched and so very peaceful. Then, of course, you have some lovely pubs at and near the Common itself.
If you get a chance go up to the end of navigation at the lock, an absolute delight x

What a fitting tribute to a man who did so much to help others even when fighting his own battles
Alan, you and your mum must have felt so proud. Through your own grief you have still found the time to keep us well informed about our friend, thank you
My best wishes to you and your family
Night night Ian, sleep well
Love Grace x

It’s 0945 hrs on Thursday 8th Feb here and after having had two days at sea cruising from Sydney down to the south west coast of South Island NZ, we have just left Milford Sound at the Fiordland National Park. Next stop will be Thompson Sound around about midday. Last night was a formal night on board and the Captain gave a bit of a speech. We found out last night that the Captain, Steve Holland, comes from Wroxham!!! How spooky 😀

Smashing picture of you both C&B, the view behind you looks lovely. I don't know if you've noticed but there are three people behind you wearing the same coats x

That's great news. I do love it there and even stayed in their rooms a couple of times. I will definitely give it a visit in the summer. You can't beat that pub garden for a drink and watching the boats go by x

I had a good look but according to shmbo I am not interested!
I think you have two options here Alan....
Firstly, you could put your foot down and tell shmbo that you are buying the boat and she will just have to lump it
Secondly, if the first option is too terrifying to even contemplate, do as Mark advised. Buy it anyway and beg forgiveness. If that doesn't work, run for the hills x

I Have never liked mooring at Great Yarmouth, I do have an irrational fear of the place so we have mostly just passed through. My dad could helm a boat with the best of them but I do remember him getting into a bit of a pickle trying to moor there once in awful weather when I was very young and I felt frightened, I think the fear stems from then
Andrew, if Griff can take Broad Ambition through Wroxham bridge backwards, I reckon Great Yarmouth is a doddle for him x

Lovely post Norfolkangler. We first took our eldest 'proper' fishing. I say proper because he had messed about on boats with a little starter kit fishing before he was 5. So we got him a proper rod and on his second session he landed a 14 pound carp, beating all our personal bests at the time. He became known as the family Carp King I had to hold him around his waist with one hand whilst helping with the rod with the other otherwise he would have been pulled in
We have been lucky in that we are able to take them out regularly boating, camping etc but unfortunately some families are not able to do this. There are some families who think it is so much easier just to stick their children in front of a screen, I don't know which is more heart wrenching x

I remember sitting on the back of a boat fishing when I caught a roach, as I reeled it in a Pike jumped out of the water after the fish. It was like a ruddy scene out of Jaws It frightened me half to death but it didn't get my little fish though
Not all children are glued to screens, my boys have been raised camping, fishing, boating, anything to do with the great outdoors really. Their screen time is limited too, they probably don't like me very much for it sometimes though x

on a lighter note, in a couple of months time the langley dyke moorings will be anything but peace and quiet,
and the noise will not be from fellow boaters but from the rookery on the other side of the mooring
Or those reprobates that sit drinking Prosecco and fishing until two in the morning x

My attitude has changed regarding paying for moorings. I used to get a tad cross at a mooring fee being charged when we had paid so very much to hire a boat. After reading various threads on the subject I understand it all more now and I am just so pleased the moorings at Langley are not lost to us even if we have to pay to moor there.
We would very rarely moor at a pub overnight, preferring a lunch time stop and then finding somewhere peaceful for the night. Langley is perfect for that. I don't mind spending my money in a pub so a couple of quid more for a lovely mooring isn't a problem to me anymore x

I don't mind posh, I don't mind a good old pub as long as all are welcome and not treated as if they are not worthy of their establishment. Why would anyone want to return to places like that. Their loss in not having salt of the earth customers spending their hard earned cash x

Doesn't really matter what they call themselves and anyway the name would certainly get them noticed
They're doing a fine job rallying to save the village, that's what's important x

Besides when the sails are flapping and the hull is zigzagging there's enough emissions from Gracie as she dives for cover to make up for it...
Well I never! Ladies do not emit, thank you very much
I tell you what is bold, requires stealth, agility and the ability to think on one's feet as one is diving for cover with a full glass of wine when a flappy thingy appears and not spilling a drop. That is one mean feat x

One question I would like to ask Griff will he ever venture into using a Sailing Yacht on the Ladds week instead of cruising around the Broads on the Boat
Oh Lord help us!
Can you imagine the lads after their DTS. A whole new meaning to zig zagging all over the ruddy place x

We have booked Melody from Richardson's for our Easter break. Their prices dropped suddenly for the first full weekend in April but that's still our school holiday. After booking, my 5-year old was grumpy with me - "Why do we have to wait THAT long?!?! Why did you not book it for sooner?!?!"
We've hired two of the Melody class when the boys were much younger. We loved that huge aft deck and plenty of room inside. Excellent choice of boat. Have a great trip x

Thank you
I love this pub. Most of our holidays we would end up there at some point during the week. Never had a bad meal or experience .
I've visited this lovely pub as a little girl with my parents and taken my own children there. I remember having a Sunday Roast which was to die for. Some very fond family memories have been made there too x
